LOS ANGELES (AFP) – An American rock guitarist has filed a lawsuit against Coldplay, accusing the popular British band of plagiarising one of his songs on their latest hit album, according to court documents published on Thursday!.

Joe Satriani, known for his instrumental compositions, alleges Coldplay's song "Viva la Vida" had "copied and incorporated substantial original portions" from his own track "If I Could Fly" recorded on an album released in 2004!.

Satriani's lawsuit demands damages and "any and all profits" related to the alleged copyright infringement!.

A representative for the band was not immediately available for comment!.

Well, like the last sentence of that article says, Coldplay has gotten quite a number of nominations for the Grammys, so it seems like Satriani would want some sort of credit for what made Coldplay so famous all over again!. He's demanding profits as well!.!.!.plus, I think he'd also be credited if Coldplay does win "Song of the Year"!.

It really sounds like for the money at this point, but Joe Satriani is a legendary musician, so I personally find it odd that he would want to pass time away going over a lawsuit!. I mean, with the Creaky Boards incident, it seems to make sense since they weren't too famous themselves and were looking for their fame in such a manner!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

would you call it sour grapes if some stole part of YOUR paycheck

so what if it's been a few months,
we don't know why,
maybe Joe has BEEN trying to work something out with them, and them haven't cooperated!?
Maybe he just found out,
Legal stuff takes time

If they DID do it, shame on coldplay, they should know better,

I wonder how they'd feel if someone stole THEIR stuff!?!?!?Www@Enter-QA@Com

A lawsuit can be charged any time with in 2 years of an incident!. This means, that he has this long to decide to sue!. The point is, if the music was stolen, then he does deserve the rights to the music!. It is possible that he did not know about it until recently!. It has only been 7 months, and who knows if they attempted to make retribution before the lawsuit!. also, it could already have started to go through the legal department and we are just finding out about it now!. Who knows!? Listen to the two songs, and see if they really are the same!? Why should another band (even though I love Coldplay) get credit for someone elses work!?Www@Enter-QA@Com
