Answers:
From an aural standpoint, most students that are accepted into music schools run the gamut!. In fact, some schools do not even include an aural test in their audition process!. It is something that for one, can definitely be learned over time!. But also, most music schools will pound it into you until you can't listen to the radio anymore in peace, because your brain is too busy identifying chord structure! As wonderful as I make this sound, (yes, that was sarcasm) believe me when I say that it is an absolutely vital part of the learning process if you ever hope to be an accomplished musician, classical or otherwise!.

So should you have good aural skill before you audition for a school!? Yes!. But there is no need to freak out about it!. For most music schools, it's all about performance and potential!. A lot of the aural stuff will come later!. Www@Enter-QA@Com

When I started my music degree, my aural skills were extremely sharp and my theory was a bit weaker!. Yes, aural skills are very important, but it can be learned with practice and training!. I tutored another major who was extremely weak at her aural skills, and she improved GREATLY with training!.

You are a step ahead by at least being strong on your theory and performance!.

If you want to go for music, don't let anything stop you!. Put the work in and you will get it!Www@Enter-QA@Com

being aurally-sharp is imperative when you choose to be a professional musician!. luckily, it is something that can be learned over time, with necessary practice!. you still have 2-3 years to go!. plenty of time to practice pointing out the exact notes on a tune!. =)Www@Enter-QA@Com

I think you'll be fine - aural skills are taught in the theory curriculum of any good music school, and are usually not a requirement for acceptance into the first step of any program!.Www@Enter-QA@Com
