The song is about a guy and a girl who "loved" each other!. But the girl ran away to Santa Barbara because "she couldn't take the pain"!.(I think those are in the lyrics)!.
From what I can remember I think the girl also became a prostitute after she ran away!.
The singer is a male!. He uses a deep voice!. I think he also uses a guitar!.
