Answers:

Probably the Randall!. I don't like Line 6!. Sure, they've got a lot of presets and options, but it doesn't help them any, cuz they still sound like crap!.

Okay, do this - go to a music store, and play a Line 6 amp and a tube amp side by side!. You'll hear the difference!. Well, I should say that if you can't hear the difference, you're welcome to get the Line 6, but if you can hear the difference you'll know what I mean!.

If you can get a 2x12, you'll have a more versatile amp than just a 1x12, because usually these amps put out a lot more volume!. Hmm, let me see your price range!.!.!.!. around 400$ !?

Well, how about this!.!.!. is there a specific reason you think you need that specific wattage!? Again, with a 2x12 you'll actually need a bit less wattage, and definitely less if you're getting a tube amp!.

Okay, so the first link below is a Peavey 50w tube 1x12!. This amp will be louder and sound better than the Line 6, though of course it won't have the nifty onboard DSP!. The thing to remember is that for every tube watt you get approximately 1!.5 - 2 solid state watts!.!.!. tube watts sound much louder than comparable solid state watts, due both to the way tubes distort and how they're rated!. Long story, different answer!. Anyhoo!.!.!.!.

Second link is a Peavey DSP amp with 60w, again a 1x12 though!. This will be just as loud as the 120w Spider, and has similar capabilities!. It's a little over your budget, but I'd ask you to consider it!.

The third is another all-tube, this one a Crate 2x12!. It's only 18 watts, but you have to remember that tube amps are louder than their solid-state cousins!. This is actually an amp that I've been looking at getting myself!.!.!. my experiences with the Epiphone Valve Jr head going into a 4x12 cab have really sold me on the concept of using a relatively low-wattage tube amp into a set of good speakers!. It's a little 5 or 10w head, and I can get stage volume with it going into a 300 watt Marshall cab!. Of course, stage volume is lower than practice volume, but I tend to practice at lower volumes anyways!. (remember that when I say stage volume, I mean when mic'd, which is what I'm used to!.!.!. it wouldn't have the oomph to fill a bar on its own)!. So even though the Crate is much lower than your price range, you could always use the extra money to plunk down on that gnarly pedal or sweet set of pickups you've always wanted!.

I guess I'm wanting to offer you alternatives!. Tube amps sound beautiful, even though they require a bit more maintenance and care than a solid state amp!.!.!. you can't bang them around quite so much, and you can't let them get as cold, for instance!. You should replace the tubes every year or two as well!. Of course, the payoff is that you can swap out tubes and get different sounds!.!.!. 6L6 power tubes might be great for deeper metal and warmer jazz tones, or swap in EL34's for a more British tone with sweeter mids and treble!. Just a f'r instance!.

Of course I'd understand if you don't want to tackle that kind've maintenance, even at the expense of getting better tone!.!.!. trust me, I completely understand! Just go to a music store and try out a few tube amps, and don't be afraid to turn them up a little bit!.!.!. as they get louder they sound sweeter, as well, which is another reason to get a low-wattage tube amp, with fewer watts you get less total volume, but you also don't need to turn it up as high to get that tube mojo cranked amp sound!.

Good luck, whichever way you go!

Get the Line 6, it's an extremely dynamic amp, and I have one myself!. You can play pretty much any style on it, though I'm pretty ignorant about Randall amps!. Go to a guitar center and try them all out, and decide there!. Merry Christmas!Www@Enter-QA@Com

i say to go with the Spider Jam because you can record!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

For sure go with either of the Line 6 amps out of those!. Another great amp comparable to the Line 6 is VOX!. Www@Enter-QA@Com
