Question: Where to start when teaching someone the absolute basics of playing the piano!?
Hi!
I'm currently Grade 7 piano and I told my cousin that she can learn how to play the piano with me, until she feels confident enough to go to a professional (I just play, I don't teach)!.
I decided to teach her the key notes and fingers first, but I don't know what to teach her next!.
I was thinking of teaching the semibreve, crotchet, etc and how you play those, but should I focus more on making sure she has her fingering and notes perfect before we move onto songs!.
Since I have a huge collection and access to sheets, I'd have no problem finding basic songs she can use to get the fingering and notes right!.
Ideas!?
Thanks!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

I think you and she should buy a "note speller" book to help her learn more about basic theory (note values, rests, and what the various symbols mean), as well as to help her learn the basics of key signatures!. At the same time, you can start her on basic, very simple songs!. I'd also recommend starting her on scales, to help her with developing dexterity with her fingers, as well as finger placement!.Www@Enter-QA@Com
bunny teeth C!
when you have both hands in root position for a C major chord,
theres too notes A & B in between and it looks like bunny
teeth!. start off with songs with 3 notes!. then 4 then keep going!.
then get into accidentals when you think shes ready!. Www@Enter-QA@Com
