Hard to say because the 80's included the stuff that became more identifiable with the 1990s, and also included the tail end of the 1970s!.
For the early 1980's, it's "Blue Oyster Cult", esp!. "Veteran of the Psychic Wars" because it was on the "Heavy Metal" OST!.
For the mid-1980's, it was "Guns N' Roses" - yeah I know that they weren't big until later, but they sound more mid-80's to me, amping up the metal that was on its way out!.
For the late 1980's, it was the B52's because of "Cosmic Thing"!. They were actually big before that, but I identified them with that time because they best captured the look and sound of my University years, which I began in 1989!.Www@Enter-QA@Com
