When putting a new pickgaurd on a guitar, do you have to remove the strings?!

Question: When putting a new pickgaurd on a guitar, do you have to remove the strings!?
I'm thinking about putting a new pickgaurd on my squire strat, and I was wondering, do you HAVE to remove the strings to put a new pickgaurd on or can I do it with them on!? I really don't want to remove my strings, they are quite new!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

It can be done but it's a whole lot easier with the strings off!. You're also gonna have to mount the pickups, pickup switch and tone and volume pots to the new pickguard because when you take the old one off they are gonna be attached to it!. And you'll also have to resolder the ground wire back on!. It's not as easy as sliding off the old pickguard and sliding on the new one!. But then again it's not too difficult if you can use a screwdriver and a soldering gun you should'nt have any problem!. But I would highly recommend taking off the strings , you can always put them back on!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

I had a squier stratocaster and YES you most definitely need to remove the strings and restring the instrument,!.!.!. also check the pickups' height before you restring it!. This will be a great time to do that!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

You will prob!. have to loosen the strings and then slide the pickguard out!. You don't have to take them off!. i also have a stratWww@Enter-QA@Com
