I believe classical training is very important to understand scales, chord structure and of course all the different chord inversions!. It is also vitally important however not to get to a stage where you are over-reliant on music!. With jazz, you have to be able to use your ears to feel an improvisation once you have the structure embedded there!.Www@Enter-QA@Com
Classical training is great for learning proper technique, reading ability, problem solving (from a technical viewpoint), sound production, balance, etc!.!.!.
I would suggest getting some classical training, but working on jazz at the same time!.Www@Enter-QA@Com
