Did Led Zeppelin promote its own culture in the '70s as compared to other ro!

Question: Did Led Zeppelin promote its own culture in the '70s as compared to other rock bands through their music!?
I was not born in the 70's, so i dont know!. But I feel that there was probably a specific rock culture of Led Zeppelin there, through their music and openly smoking weed!. I dont think any other band had an influence on the everyday LIVES of people like they did!. Listen to the guitaring in Black Dog, Immigrant Song and the solo in Stairway to Heaven; i think you'll know what i mean!. The sound was original, and sounds like the authentic 70's sound to me (end 60's and early 70s that is)!. I dont know if too many bands have produced the guitaring like Jimmy Page has done!.

If you are a Pink Floyd fan, and feel the need to rant it out here, dont bother answering here please!. Im not saying that LZ was the best rock band in the world here (although i think it definitely is)!.

I would love people from the 70s (and esp if they are diehard LZ fans) to tell me about the specific culture LZ promoted in their lives personally!. Tell me about the rad chicks and all the weed, cuz im smoking a joint tonight listening to LZ songs!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

I wouldn't say it was one thing, like Led Zeppelin that promoted pot use in the 70's!. It was rather a combination of things that started from the 60's, and snowballed in the 70's, all the way up to today!. The biggest thing of course was the availability!. If you wanted weed in those day's it was easy to obtain, and the people selling it did so for the enlightenment of others not so much for profit ( like today )!.
Still Rock music and weed did go together well, and I suppose Disco and Coke did also!.
Here's my list of some bands!. and the drugs that i feel best fit their music:
Rolling Stones/ Alcohol
Led Zeppelin/ Weed
Pink Floyd/ Weed/ lsd
Lou Reed/ Heroin
ZZ top/ Alcohol
Moody Blues/ lsd
I think FM radio was another big reason for drug promotion, at least in the early 70's!. FM just had that underground feel to it in those days, the DJ's all were definitely stoned, they always sounded way laid back!.For kids like me, it was the only way to get to hear what the music sounded like before we rushed to the record store!.
Very good question!

LOL! yes, I can tell you're sparking up some reefers tonight!. You are making no sense, Man!. But that's alright, I can dig it!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

I knew a girl who actually changed her last name to Plant (I mean, she was even listed that way in the phone book!)!. But that wasn't until college (the early 80s)!.

Honestly, I always hated LZ while they were together (like most critics)!. I didn't start getting into them until my late 20s!. Now I love em!. But I think you're making way too much of this weed thing; LZ wasn't a pot band, they were more for Ludes and the other drugs of choice among headbangers!. If you're talking about weed during the 70s, that would be the Dead (and of course the aforementioned Pink Floyd)!.Www@Enter-QA@Com
