Ritchie Blackmore or Yngwie Malmsteen?!

Question: Ritchie Blackmore or Yngwie Malmsteen!?
Which guitarist do you prefer and why, I know they are different!.!.!.but that's what makes it interesting!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

Answers:
I have to go with Ritchie Blackmore!. Malmsteen is technically proficient and fast as all get out but to me at least, listening to him gets old really quickly!. I find his playing to be limited and he has almost tunnel vision in terms of playing the same things over and over in search of perfection!.!.!. Blackmore gave us Deep Purple, Rainbow, and even in Blackmore's Night he is expanding on his gift!.!.!. I just don't find Yngwie's music inviting!.!.!. I think I still have a copy of Rising Force around here somewhere!.!.!.!.!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

Well Blackmore is one of the innovators of "Shred" guitar along with Uli Roth in Rock music and Blackmore a huge inspiration and influence on Malmsteen so I have to pay respects to the Innovator

Blackmore is my choice

EDIT: you know M!? I really enjoy listening to both players music just about the same too!. I mean Yngwie is far more technical for sure but Blackmore is also epic in his own wayWww@Enter-QA@Com

When it comes to memorable riffs, not just diarrhea of the fingers, Blackmore is king!.
Yes, Malmsteen is fast, but I like a tasteful player as well!.
Riffs: My Woman from Tokyo; Smoke on the Water; Burn; Stormbringer; Space Truckin; Highway Star; Hush; High Ball Shooter: Man on the Silver Mountain, the list goes on!.
Ok, now name a great riff song from Malmsteen!.

Both players are undeniably superior, but I just like Blackmore's style more!. When you have two players of this caliber, it comes down to preference!.

Cheers!Www@Enter-QA@Com

Well, Malmsteen seems to build ALL of his songs on speed!. When you do that, it seems to get boring and, in fact, Malmsteen's newer stuff really bores me, though I like his older stuff quite a bit (what I've heard of it)!. I mean, sure--speed is impressive, but, in rock especially, it gets boring!. I find it more interesting to hear guys like Brad Paisley play with a lot of speed (he's country, in case you don't know--check him out though!.!.!.he's an outstanding guitarist)!.

Ritchie Blackmore, with Rainbow, was great!. The only album I have with Blackmore on it is a compilation of songs by Rainbow and he was a great guitarist!.

Honestly, I'd have to say that Blackmore is better!. Of course, Malmsteen is faster and drunker!. In fact, I once heard that his crew that would set stuff up (maybe even other band members) would urinate in Malmsteen's drinks because he was a scumbag!. I've also heard that he didn't realize that because he was always drunk!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

Love the question Michael!. It makes such a change to see something championing Richie Blackmore!. He always seems to be the nearly man in these polls so kudos for bringing him into the limelight!.

I think you can tell by now, I'm a fan of Richie's!. I particularly like his DP eras but Rainbow are pretty good!. I've only got the Jeff Scott Soto Rainbow albums which 1980 to the split in '84!. Richie plays phenomenally well though!.

Jeff Scott Soto is a nice transition to bring us back to Yngwie J!. Malmsteen!. I'm afraid, the rather dull thing is, although I recognise Yngwie's contribution and playing expertise (no one can deny him that) I'm just not into that whole Classical Metal structure of the Rock genre!. I do have one of his Greatest Hits albums but it very rarely gets a play!.

The answer - Richie all the way!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

This question is pretty interesting, the comparison is weird, and will mostly be opinion!.
Yngwie clearly has more skill!. He has done so many great things that make him so much better than Richie!.
Comparing the bands tho!.!.!. Rainbow, Deep Purple vs!. Alcatrazz and an Amazing Solo Career!.
Yngwie is at a level so far above Richie, his skills kill anything Deep Purple or Rainbow have done, the only thing Richie has is original songs with DioWww@Enter-QA@Com

I love both but I gotta give it up to Yngwie!. I've tried playing a guitar with scalloped frets before and it kicked my ***!. The sheer speed he can play one and not make his notes go sharp is just phenomenal!.

Well, it's hard to have a Q about Yngwie and not talk about speed!.!. It's what he's known for!. also, I don't think Ritchie could play a scalloped guitar as proficiently as Yngwie, which is my reason Yngwie is better!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

Ritchie Blackmore cause he can play a wider diversity of music and I really like his guitar playingWww@Enter-QA@Com

Yngwie Malmsteen - His English is outstanding and what the guy above me said!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

Yngwie is way more talentedWww@Enter-QA@Com
