Yes okay, they're not a patch on Black Sabbath but Slipknot are Nu-Metal!. I mean seriously, listen to some rock bands (Kings Of Leon/Muse/etc) and then listen to Slipknot!. Slipknot are a LOT heavier!.
I know a lot of people here have said that Slipknot are not metal, but it's only because they don't like the music and perhaps they are big metal fans and wouldn't want Slipknot to be associated with that!. I'm not even that big on Slipknot (some stuff was good, but I hate that new song) but I do recognize them as metal!. Www@Enter-QA@Com

If some band is not on there they are either underground or not real metal!. Since Slipknot is mainstream and not on MA, that means they are not really metal!.Www@Enter-QA@Com
From what I've heard, I wouldn't call them metal - but then, I've only listened to one album so I could be wrong!. (By the way, just because a band isn't metal doesn't mean they suck, even if I really don't like the songs I've heard so far)!.

As i am more into extreme elements of metal!. I believe that there S/T and Iowa had some thrash and death elements to their sound!. Joey toured with Satyricon and Mick plays in death metal side bands!. But Vol 3 was stone sour part 2 and All Hope is a bland and generic cd!. So at one time they were somewhat of a metal band but now there is need for them to call it a day!.Www@Enter-QA@Com
No!. They are Nieu-metal or cartoon metal or bubblegum metal or faux-metal or suck metal!. Plain and simple, they are watered down enough for the mainstream and that's not even close to what metal's all about!. Costumes and masks are pretty gay too!.Www@Enter-QA@Com
Slipknot basically fits under the same genre as Nightwish and all of those other nu-metal bands I don't care to learn the names of!. It has metal elements to it, but it's definitely nothing like traditional metal!.Www@Enter-QA@Com
