Set your import setting to at least 192kbps or even better at 256kbps!. Keep in mind the bigger the setting the more space a song need!. But for all the encoded music info bigger is better!. The quality of your source recordings will go along way as to you listening experience!. Most sites that download are at 128kbps (including Itunes) unless where a higher bit rate is offered!. (CD quality is 192kbps, by the way!.) also, the reproduction of sound is affected by the quality of speakers you use whether they be headphones or external!.

As far as music selection, you can make a playlist omitting songs you don't like so as when using shuffle you get a quality set!. Using the "rate" feature you can sort by rate and make a playlist of only the highly rated ones!.

Yeah, an Ipod is not perfect but carrying upward of 700 songs is great!.

Dang, Prof, what's the postal date stamped on that envelope 3 weeks!?!!?!!? Hats of to the USPS for some great service, Uggg!.!.!.

Yeah, open up your email and I will give it to you again, :-)Www@Enter-QA@Com

Actually I have a Zune!. Majority of my music is ripped from the cd collection I've built over the years!. I get what your getting at, if you only listen to what's on the radio or tv, you may miss some other great songs that don't get released as singles!. The beauty of any mp3 player is you load and listen to only the songs you like, other sources you're forced to randomly listen to songs you don't really care for plus the ones you do!. With a mp3 player you become the dj and make your own personal play list!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

I buy the albums and listen to the cd when i can, but having an ipod is super conveniant for me on the train etc!. as i have 5475 at the moment, i have listened to evey song btw, ive just been listening to all sorts since i was young!.

But i have enough music to suit the mood im in which i love!.

And i never listen to one song, i found out the hard way when i bought no one knows by queens of the stone age, and later on bought songs for the deaf, which is brilliant i had just assumed they had 1 good song, wrong! I now have all their albums and they are my favorite band! :)

Ipods are great for convenience, but i have to agree with beatles girl, it definatly takes away the whole experience of owning the album, finding the hidden tracks (unlike ipods, i tells you where they are hidden) and owning the book, knowing the lyrics and reading about the album etc!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

I both like and dislike the whole iPod/mp3 player phenomenon!. On the one hand, loading thousands of songs onto a tiny device that you can carry in a pocket is wonderfully convenient!. And shuffling through your library can lead to interesting musical transitions!. On the other hand, I love buying CDs!. I always open them up, sit down with the album booklet, and listen to the whole album straight through!. Whenever I buy something online, I miss out on that experience, and it's still not the same listening to a complete album on an mp3 player!. I do both though, mp3 players and buying albums!. The convenience of the mp3 player is difficult to ignore, but there is nothing like listening to a brand new album for the first time and flipping through the booklet that comes with it!. I still miss being able to browse a record store for new stuff, but sadly there aren't any left in my area!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

Yeah, I get what you're saying!.!.!. I listen to both my ipod and albums!.!.!.and I just put all my albums, even the songs that I think I might not like on my ipod, so it's like I'm getting the full experience still I would like to think!.!.!.!.I do download a song once in a blue moon, but I always make sure to check out everything on the album, you know, kinda live with it for a while before I buy!.!.!.

Although having the dang thing has made me a bit more of a music snob : /Www@Enter-QA@Com

i dont understand what you mean by "experience"!.!.!.you can get the same emotions/feelings by listening to an ipod compared to anything else

i dont know what i would do with out my ipod!.!.!.!.my ipod is my life!.!.!.!.I always take it with me where ever I go and when im home i just plug it into my stereo :)

could you explain more what you mean by "experience" or why you dont like them!?!?!?

EDIT: if you want the same uninterrupted experience of a CD just listen to the whole album and dont skip a song!.!.!.its that simpleWww@Enter-QA@Com

I love my ipod, it's amazingly convenient and I notice I am more willing to exercise since I've had it, it never skips like my CD player either!.!. I mean, I guess you can't get the experience of actually going to a concert by listening to it, but you couldn't get that from a walk man or a CD player either!.

to add, I see what you're saying about experience, but it's also good that you can just buy singles so you aren't ending up paying 14 dollars for some filler songs that may or may not be good!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

I agree with buying the whole albums and forced to get into other stuff for the good, but Ipods (MP3 players) are great and I still get the same experience I get from a CD!. I usually download the whole CD on to my Ipod anyway!. Miss the album artwork anyway, but if I really like i t, I'll buy the CD for the collectible value!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

It doesn't matter what medium you use to play music, all it matter is, well, the damn music!.
Having the convince of a small handy mp3 player, makes all the difference!. It's better than carrying a boom box on your shoulders!.

"with an iPod, you just download the stuff you already like!. with an album, ur forced into listening to other stuff"

^that's a bold generalization, MANY people(including myself) UPLOAD the MUSIC from ALBUMS onto their iPods!. That last sentence was stupid, you're not forced into listening to songs when you have an album!.

Www@Enter-QA@Com

I must agree with you!. They are very convenient if I want to find one song to listen to or if I am going somewhere, but there is just no *experience*, and for me, a lot of it is in the experience!. I much prefer vinyl!. Sounds better and is *much* more of an experience!.
Oh!.!.!. and for my iPod, I buy CDs at the store and put entire CDs on there!. I really prefer not to buy on iTunes or anything!. Www@Enter-QA@Com

Yor question is the reason you will never see AC/DC on i Tunes!. I agree with you 100% Its easy to pick and choose songs that you like but in retrospect, how many of us bought an album,cd,tape etc of a favorite band becuase of a song or 2 we liked and discovered a few more gems that werent played on the radio!? also, with i Tunes or what ever you miss out on the best feature some CDs have!.!.!.!.the hidden, unlisted bonus track =) Www@Enter-QA@Com

Can't live without my iPod - hate iTunes though!.

But honestly, I don't understand what you mean about the whole experience thing!.!. You can very easily put an album on your iPod and share the same experience!. And you're not FORCED into listening to other stuff!.!. it's all about the decision of the owner!. Sorry, but I don't understand what you mean!.!.!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

not true!.!.!.i download complete albums onto my ipod all the time!.!.!.the only songs i omit are the ones that i absolutely can do without (filler songs, overall bad songs, etc)!.!.!.!.to put it in perspective, i'm just as likely to skip a song i dont like on a CD than i am on my ipod!.!.!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

That's not true, you can buy albums and put all of the songs on your mp3 player and then listen to the whole thing!. I try not to focus on the songs that I already like, meaning that I try to listen to all songs that I don't like yet!. Www@Enter-QA@Com

you can still do that with an ipod!. u dont have to get all of ur music of of itunes, you can import the CD's too!. Plus its not like u cant listen to the whole album on an ipod, its much easier than carrying CD's everywhere u go!. Www@Enter-QA@Com

I think you are right!. Recently, I found my Dad's old record player from the 70's dusted it off, found some speakers and hooked it up in my room!. Amazingly, with this old dusty record player I found The Doors Greatest Hits and The White Album on VINYL ! ! ! ! I FREAKED ! Www@Enter-QA@Com

I do not own an ipod!. I did own multiple MP3's though!. I took mine wherever I went!. I couldn't leave without it!. I need to listen to music!. If I didn't listen to music, it would be so loud!. I'm sort of weird that way!.
And I might get an Ipod :DWww@Enter-QA@Com

They are good devices, but overpriced!. I hate having iTunes on my computer also!.
You can get a similiar player for 50% the price and they do the exact same thing!. Www@Enter-QA@Com

I hate the click wheel!. It's too fiddly!. I put it in my pocket right, every time I move my leg, the volume goes up & down!.!.!. & up again!. & I can't be bothered flicking the hold switch on!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

I don't see any reason to have one!. My stereo in my car plays MP3s, so does my 5 disc changer in the house and both my computers!. Www@Enter-QA@Com

Yeah same as Rock Addict I did not get mine till I graduated this past May!. I ? my iPod!. I need music in my life to me music is life!. So yeah I do fancy the iPod =)!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

Just got the new iPod Nano a few weeks ago!.!.!.!.and I'm really impressed with it!. You know that you can put CDs on iPods, right!? lolWww@Enter-QA@Com

I never cared for the ipod or any mp3 player!. It just can't beat a cd and a great stereo!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

I love my ipod to death!.

I carry it around everywhere!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

It took me till I graduated to get one, so I love my iPod!. also it saves my comp!. from getting bogged down with too many songsWww@Enter-QA@Com

I love mine!. Especially with my $200 headphones :PWww@Enter-QA@Com

I burn the cd onto my Ipod so I get the experience you speak of!.!.!. :/Www@Enter-QA@Com

<------i pod touch fan hereWww@Enter-QA@Com

I LOVE my iPod, I go everywhere with it!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

Same here BG!.

I do love my MP3 player though, it's an aging Archos which has about 150 of my favourite albums (in full) on it and gets regular uploads!. I've never liked the iPod!. I don't like the whole dial interface on it and really don't see the need for some of the features on it!. Why would I want to randomly play everything on there!? My tastes range from Classical to Swing!. I hardly want to listen to King's College Choir after hearing Slayer's Angel Of Death, then complete the sandwich with Bobby Darin rendition of Mack The Knife! I can separate my different genres and carry everything with me and it can suit my mood accordingly!.

Archos Rule!

On the subject of CDs, I'm guessing you don't have kids, or you have a secret bank vault room at home in which to keep your precious CDs!. I buy a CD and download it on my HDD the moment the cellophane comes off it!. Anything over three days old gets scratched beyond any hope of it every being played again!. So you see, My Archos is my friend!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

I think we disagree philosophically on the way to use an iPod!. For me the iPod is all about options!. It's true, there are some albums where I have only put on a few favorite tracks, but for the most part I just drop in whole records!. Plus, the ommiting of tracks comes down to songs I've already heard and decided that I don't care to listen to anymore!. These songs usually aren't a part of more experience oriented albums (I do know what you mean about album experience, for me though there are certain albums that are experiences, but for me most are really just collections of songs)!.

I held off for a while because I didn't feel it was worth it, but my wife got one and after using her's a bit it all clicked and I decided it would improve my quality of life to have one!. I realized how much easier it was to have one!. No more deciding while I was already in the middle of my commute that I really wasn't into anything I had picked to put in when I had reloaded the thing just yesterday and gone through all of my cd books and taken about 20 minutes to decide even at that point, and being on a long drive and blowing through all 6 of the cds in the changer with no other reason to stop!. The iPod gives me about 7,000 or so tracks (a whole lot of records) to work with, It gives me the option of having pretty much my own radio station where I am guaranteed to like almost every track that could play (may not be in the mood for them, but somewhere in me there is an enjoyment)!. It gives me tons of records so that there is something for pretty much any mood!.

Plus, you have the skip button with cds, it's really all the same thing!. It's really, at least the way I have it, just like having a really big and really well organized cd player that holds a ton of cds and has a shuffle function!.

Hi Mr!. Bernstein!. Hows it goin!?
I got the second thing I sent out back in the mail yesterday!. I don't know what happened to the first one, but one of them came back!. Did you have any luck with the search!? If you want I could try again!. Maybe third time's the charm!.

Hey man, I sent it out!. I forgot to mention in the e-mail, but I had a look and the setlist looks about right except for being cut off before the last song of the set and missing the encore!. Hopefully it will work this time!.Www@Enter-QA@Com
