Answers:
One of my top five bands in the world, [maybe bias because they are Canadian] formally known as John Kaye And "The Sparrows"!.
Steppenwolf, helped establish heavy metal music, in the late 60's along
with bands like, Blue Cheer, Iron Butterfly!. On moving to California they changed their to name to Steppenwolf!.
They sold over 25 million units world wide, releashing 8 gold albums, and 13-Hot 100 singles, plues 3-Top-10 hits!. [Born To Be Wild, Magic Carpet Ride, Rock Me]!.
Steppenwolf had its roots in Toronto, which was established 1964, by
brothers Dennis and Jerry Edmonton, and Nick St!. Nicholas, German
born John Kaye joined in Sept!. 1965!.
The song the Pusher was prominently used in the 1969 cult film, Easy
Rider!.

Here are a list of some of their earlier concerts with artist they appeared with!.
July 5, 1968!.!.!.!.!.!.!.Hollywood Bowl with the Doors
Sept!. 11, 1968!.!.!.!.!.!.Avalon Ballroom with Santana
Dec!. 6, 1968!.!.!.!.!.!.!.Spectrum in Philadelphia with Iron Butterfly and The
Grateful Dead
June 20, 1969!.!.!.!.!.!.!.Devonshire Downs in Northridge CA with Jimi Hendrix, Joe Cocker, The Byrds, Creedence Clearwater Revival!.

Johnny Winters!.

I had the luck to see them when they were John Kaye and the Sparrows, back in my home town of Saint John, New Brunswick, get this they play at one of our high school dances, not knowing they would go on to be called Steppenwolf!.

Everybody has heard of the above songs which where some of their greatest!. But they had so many more great songs, such as!.
Sookie Sookie
Everybody's Next One
Move Over
Hey Lawdy Mama
Snowblind Friend
Desperation
The Ostrich
Take What You Need
Don't Step On The Grass Sam
Jupiter's Child
Monster/Suicide/America
Straight Shooting Woman
Ride With Me
For Ladies Only
Tighten Up Your Wig
Sorry I got carried away, it's just you don't get to hear about all the other great bands of that time here on R&P, Just the likes of Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, Beatles, my favorite the Stones, Black Sabbath, it's time to here about them all casue without the others none or some of this what we have today would not exist today!.
Take Care
