Can an emcee's legacy...?!

Question: Can an emcee's legacy!.!.!.!?
Be destroyed by what they do afterwards!?

Eg: Will LL and KRS be remembered as legends in the rap game, or do you think it will get to the point where they're seen (by the masses) as "those old guys who keep putting mediocre albums out"!?

Or do you think once someone has made their mark on hip hop, that can never be changed, regardless of what they go on to do!? Www@Enter-QA@Com

Answers:
I think that it actually depends on the things that they do after they have left their mark!.

For example, unless the person you talk to is 12 or something, they have mad respect for KRS, regardless of what he does now!. His impact was so large that it set the bar for those who followed to measure up to!. Times change and you can't be the illest forever!. With LL, I feel that he is constantly tarnishing his image!. But, while I feel that he did make a big mark in Hip Hop history, I don't feel that he was as impactful as, say, someone like KRS or Rakim!. I don't really know a lot of MC's who list him as one of the greats!. He could have been, but the constant love songs and corny albums have made his impact less felt as some of the other greats!. I also feel that if you don't really put out anything, people tend to forget how ill of an MC you can be!. Case in point, Kool Moe Dee!. GREAT lyricist, but people rarely seem to remember that!.

Edit: This question is the best of the week :-)!. I definitely think that in some cases failure to keep your name out there means that future generations are not as aware of your material and that the generation who is familiar with your work will talk about it less!. Big Daddy Kane had ridiculous lyrics and skills on the mic, but most people don't even think about him or Moe Dee, but will name an artist like DMX as a GOAT contender!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

I must respect LL for his early stuff, but that is what I see him as now!. KRS will never be seen as that because he's not putting out mediocre albums!. He has an undeniable past to back him!. He diagnosed a lot of things to with Hip Hop!. When of the first to do it, and majorly influential!.

I take it those were just examples though, so I will focus more around the general point you were getting at!. Yes it certainly can!. If an Emcee is considered the GOAT his entire rap career!. Then goes off melesting chrildren, there's a pretty good chance his popularity level might be reduced!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

Maybe!.!.but only if those artists didn't make such important things for hip-hop like LL Cool J, KRS-One (and other emcees) did!. Yes, they put mediocre albums which determine their 'falling off'!.!.
but people still remember what they did in the past,!.!.!. they also mention KRS as one of 'hip-hop's teachers' because he has influenced (many of) their favourite rappers which are successful in present!.
What about LL Cool J!? People still remember him as a good rapper even they say he should finish his musical career!.!.so I don't think people will ever forget them!.

It's all about respect, because no one of the now-a-days rappers can be such innovators like those emcees were back in the days!.!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

What's Laid is Concrete, unless there's something that surfaces on a social level to contradict their work or a particular Time in their career

Absolutely If an artist has a buzz and decides not to drop another album, or can't due to death or some unforseen circumstance, it definitly leaves alot out there to be said, think about len bias, as an example he was a Prominent athlete coming out of college he was suppose to be the missing piece to the celtics in the 80's then (BOOM) died of an overdose, ever since it's been nothing but what ifs, and could of been!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

We like to think the quality of rhymes will outlast all other things but they wont really >_>!.

Depends on the quality of his actions!. Nas could stop short of setting fire to an orphanage and most people would still remember him as the illlest!.

If he did a track called "My Swag is phenomenal" Featuring Lil Wayne, Rick Ross and Trick Daddy!. His Legend would be dead superfast!.

If he featured on Soulja Boy's album - Same effect!.

If he put out stupid albums in order to balance his checkbook i!.e!. LL cool J - Same effect!.

Putting out album after album works if you're talented!. Nas again is a good example!. If you've shown you can bring fire without beats, It works!. If you can't/coupled with the current generation not feeling you!.!.!.You get KRS one's last 400 albums!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

I don't know cause I still look at Michael Jordan as a legend pre-retirement!. But I think the best thing to do is to quit while you're still hot because you get kinda pathetic when you try to drag out your career and you're not good anymore!. But that's just my opinion!. Leave a good memory in someone's mind not a bad one!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

i have mad respect, for both LL and KRS, and still cosider them two of the best emcees of all time!.!.

but its the newer generation, which i guess is mine and under haha (im 18) that is going to lose respect, or not really have any at all for them!.!. its stupid but i think its trueWww@Enter-QA@Com

I don't think it can!. I mean when you look at all that KRS has done for hip hop, i don't think just by him releasing whack albums after his prime, makes him no longer a legend!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

I think LL Cool J and KRS-One are tarnishing their legacy a bit by putting out mediocre albums, but I think they'll still be viewed as legends!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

I think LL has already hit that point!. If a rapper consistently puts out bad albums, it's natural to kind of forget what they did before!. People like KRS-One though, they are immortal!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

I agree with ur second statement!.
Example!?
Snoop Dogg!.
His latest stuff has been mediocre at best!.
But his previous work allows him to drop any sh!t he wants to!.
And he's still respected and known as one of the best!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

Yes, of course it really can and has happened!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

Yea,just look at Jay-Z!.

Now he runs with Lil Wayne,Birdman,Young Jeezy, and all those f*gs!.

EDIT:another good example would be Kanye West!.When he came out, people were acting like he was the best thing since television!.How wrong were they!.Too bad he left their a** for Auto-Tunes!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

Yes, no, well I really don't know Www@Enter-QA@Com
