Eric is UNDOUBTEDLY the most VERSATILE, being able to play the "GAUNTLET" of the music spectrum!.(RnR, R&B, Jazz etc)
Winter was a SUPERB guitarist and his Blues recordings validate this!. Unfortunately, very few Rock n Roll fans know who he is!. the same can be said for the likes of Muddy Waters, Wes Montgomery, Howlin Wolf, and, even BO Diddley!.
Is Eric better!?
That's in the "ear" of the listener!. The "taste' of the listener!.
Personally, I think Stevie Ray was better than both, but, that's just my opinion

By far Eric Clapton is the better guitarist!. But on my opinion the best guitarist ever is Eddie Van Halen!. But Mick Mars from Motley Crue often gets overlooked and he is got to be one of the best guitarist around!.Www@Enter-QA@Com
