Lyrics or Melody? What is more important to you?!

Question: Lyrics or Melody!? What is more important to you!?
Does it matter to you when a song has incredibly unoriginal, cheesy lyrics, but an amazing melody!? Or do the lyrics even matter to you, and you mostly care about the music!? Which is more important to you in a song!?

also, can you think of a song with horrible, cheesy lyrics, but with a great melody, and a song with amazing, deep lyrics, whose melody you don't particularly care for!?

Lyrics are really important to me, if they are unoriginal and really common and cheesy, I usually can't get into the song!. However, if I don't get into the melody, I can't really get into the song!.!.!.!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

Answers:
I need melody, because a song can have amazing lyrics, but if it had a horrible melody there is no point to it!. Lyrics are really important too, but if they have a horrible melody behind them, then I wouldn't listen to the song either!. In the end, songs need an equal combination of lyrics and melody, or else, it's not really music!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

probably lyrics, they make the song for me!. but if it has no melody, then it isn't a good song!.

the best songs have the perfect balance of amazing lyrics and a melody that can get stuck in my head!.

i can think of a billion songs with super catchy melodies and horrible lyrics, like pretty much everything on the radio!.!. Www@Enter-QA@Com

I kind of want both!.
I mean I can live with kind of corny if the melody is good enough, but, well, I think Fergie is a great example of catchy melody, decent vocal talent and the most horrid lyrics I've ever heard!. I can't listen to her music because of the lyrics!.
At the same time, I've heard some metal songs with really thoughtful lyrics and a melody, that well, sounds like cats in an alley (and frequently the vocals do, too)!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

lyrics, most definitely!.
if you don't have anything useful to say, don't say it at all!. music is about unveiling the truth, it's about a catharsis, the words should be sung by the heart, not the voice!. think of bob dylan - not the greatest of vocalists, maybe played 4 simple chords in his songs and he's one of the most amazing songwriters of all time!. people remember his work because he had something to say and he says it!. it's about being fearless!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

Can't I have both!?!?!?

Well sometimes the melody is more important, because you could be listening to a song that is just so smooth, then you look up the lyrics and you're like "WTF!?!", so it all depends!. But most of the time, lyrics are far more important to me!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

i dont take the time to listen to the lyrics
but
there are only a few lyrics that i like!. for example:

emptiness is loneliness
loneliness is cleanliness
cleanliness is godliness
and god is empty
just like me

those lyrics are from "zero" by smashing pumpkins
i love the loopWww@Enter-QA@Com

If it's in English then I like for the lyrics to be good but I can deal with kind of weak lyrics if the melody is amazing!. The melody is definitely important but I kind of get turned off by terrible lyrics or lack of emotions !.!.Www@Enter-QA@Com
