GUITARISTs -- What's the difference between a Flanger & an E-Bow ?!

Question: GUITARISTs -- What's the difference between a Flanger & an E-Bow !?
!.
All these year, I assume that "sustain" where one note slide into another, like Robert Fripp's "cello"-like effect on "Evening Star" with Eno, was a Flanger!.

And are the Resulting sounds of using One or the Other - the Same !?!?

Thanks :)

Well let me answer this part of it a Flanger is a Rack or Peddle guitar effect its foundation is a circuit board and you run it from your amp through the guitar effect the Flang to your guitar and it has many settings that you can play with the intensity of the Flange ect!.

An E-Bow is a wireless hand held device that initiates notes my Electromagnetism or an electromagnetic filed YOU ARE NOT PICKING THE NOTES THEY RING OUT from the electromagnetic field its battery operated and wireless hand held!.

Physics at its best thats the Technical part of thingsWww@Enter-QA@Com

E-bow!. Has an electromagnetic driver that makes strings vibrate!. Kinda like a pickup in reverse, if that makes any sense!. Sounds like a string!. As the other answerer said, it makes the guitar sound like a string instrument!.

Flanger!. Interestingly enough, its the same type of effect that makes a phaser sound - a bit of the signal is delayed and mixed back into it!. Creates a swirly, swooshy, underwatery, jet planey sound depending on the settings!.

Sustain doesn't have to come from an E-bow!.!.!.!. the Fernandes Sustainiac is a system built into a guitar that does the same thing!. Of course, there are also homebrew versions of it too!. Controlled feedback can give sustain!.!.!. and guitars with good quality woods, pickups, and with the gain set juuust right can get amazing sustain as well!. A friend of mine has a beautiful Gibson that has well over 6 seconds worth of sustain by itself, acoustically, for instance!.

an ebow makes a sound like using a bow on the strings!.

the flanger just makes that psychadelic 'rising and declining' sound

a slight but noticeable difference nonethelessWww@Enter-QA@Com
