One really needs to know two things, before advising you: what CD's does he already have, and "how deep" are your pockets!?
You wouldn't want to buy him something he already has: do a little "snooping", and try to make a list!.
IF you have "deep pockets", a classical music lover is ofter overwhelmed when given a gift of a complete set of works, composed by the same composer:
(1) all five Beethoven piano concertos!.
(2) all three of Tchaikovsky's ballets!.
(3) all of the Mozart piano sonatas(he wrote some 20+ piano concertos)!.
You get the idea!?

As your friend likes classical music it is better to give him Beethoven, Mozart, Bach and also a song from Lizzie McGuire movie: Paolo & Isabella - What dreams are made of (ballad version)!. I think with this songs your friend might feel happy!.Www@Enter-QA@Com
Well if he plays the piano I would get him something like Bach, Beethoven (hope I spelt that right), or Chopin any of those old famous piano composers would probably be good!.

I would HIGHLY recommend anything from Square-Enix, especially Final Fantasy and Kingdom Hearts!. But I would say try to get him Final Fantasy Advent Children since there's a really kickass piano piece called "Those Who Fight"Www@Enter-QA@Com
