What do you consider to be mainstream metal?!
Question: What do you consider to be mainstream metal!?
I've noticed that alot of metalcore and deathcore bands are becoming mainstream!. Has anyone else noticed this!? I mean, mediocre bands are seeming to hit it big - Suicide Silence, Whitechapel, etc!. I've almost got to the point of considering them mainstream metal, along with Trivium's latest album, Metallica, etc!. What have you noticed!?Www@Enter-QA@Com

Well, Mainstream Metal has often been criticized for its lack of creativity!. Some of it has even been challenged on whether or not it is Metal (Trivium is a good example of this)!.
In my opinion, Mainstream Metal refers to bands that are mainstream in the Metal Scene!. As in most of the Metal community knows about this band!. Thus, it would exclude these bands that are often criticized or bashed, since they're often not considered Metal at all!.
Examples would be: Wintersun, In Flames, Blind Guardian etc!. as these bands are well-known in the Metal community!. Www@Enter-QA@Com

Metallica, I would say, is very mainstream nowadays!. Trivium is getting there!. Disturbed is more hard rock (not metal) but they are also up there!. Avenged Sevenfold hit it big after they sugarcoated their sound from hardcore to more "melodic!."Www@Enter-QA@Com
