I agree with Peace Frog!. Elvis C has a dumb answer, because Morrison liked the blues & poetry & hated oppression!. Alligator Hater, doesn't get it because people are slaves to society, but not for going to a concert as the answerer who called herself dizzy blonde suggested, & Morrison didn't mean because people earn money in their pocket as Alligator Hater suggested!. He said that because people go willing along with society's "normal" society standards & cultures & be good little citizens & voters without questioning the evils in it, like hatred & being narrow minded!. This also includes things like war, people could say we have a reason to go after terrorists for example that were in Afghanistan & maybe head into Pakistan to finish them off, but to have a war in Iraq, that's been more about making money for Bush & his Oil CEO friends is another entirely different matter!. Besides that, people in the audience were fighting & saying hateful things at his shows, so he wanted to point out what aggressive, zombies they were being & that they needed to think of less agressive things & not follow society & it's "normal" culture so blindly!. Which by the way this is one of the examples of rebellion that influenced Punk rock including the King of Punk Iggy Pop!. The incident with the mace used on him when he was with a girl before he went onstage, was in New Haven Connecticut, home of Yale University & where facist George Bush & his corrupt dad went to college & where Bush & his dad was in their masonic club fraternity of corrupt power crooks called the Skull & Bones!. This is one of the places Jim Morrison was arrested, but NOT the one Mr!. Wildflowers is thinking about!. Case in point a movie depiction of what happened in New Haven--

Jim Morrison was arrested for this concert too, but this because the facist authorities & mindless conformers (mindless zombies & robots as far as I'm concerned)--this is because they didn't like anyone who dares to question authority, not because of a riot, even though he wanted to hang out with the audience & invite them onstage, since he did this publicly at a large indoor arena, this became an idea Punk bands did a lot of!. Anyway the authorities called it a riot, just because it was a little wild & there might've been "a few bad apples" but should Jim Morrison be blamed for idiots who listen to his music too!? That's like saying people who have a bad classmate should be blamed also, just because they're in the same room!. Idiots will be idiots no matter where they're at, why should other people like a singer be blamed for the actions he had nothing to do with!? In fact Jim Morrison condemned idiots for their behavior, as much as he looked down on corrupt people!.
