Answers:
It depends on what you consider cheap!. I've seen them for as little as 120 bucks, and I just now found a few online for about 150!. That's dang cheap, because top-of-the-line Bach, Yamaha, and other trumpets are in the thousands of dollars!. Even middle-of-the-road instruments are close to 500!. Decent used Olds Ambassadors like mine from the mid-1970s are still trading on eBay for nearly 200 bucks!. However, you get what you pay for!. A brand-new 150 dollar Chinese import horn is going to be cheaply made, using thin metal and cheap parts, and it may not sound as good as a thousand dollar horn, but if you just want to learn to play it, you would be fine with a cheap horn!. You can get used horns at some music stores, and eBay-type places, and you could even rent one for a few months to see if you like it!. However, renting one will cost you as much as a cheap horn after less than even six months of renting!. The trumpet is one of the easier instruments to learn to play!. All you have to do is make a fart sound into the mouthpiece and learn which of the three valves to push!. Some notes, like C and G, don't require you to push any valves at all!. How easy is that!? Most of the difficulty is developing a range, because it takes a lot of practice to build up your lips to the point where you can hit higher notes!. Not like those silly flutes, saxophones and clarinets that have dozens of keys to figure out and bamboo reeds that you have to suck on!. Here is one site that carries cheap new musical instruments!. There are many more!.
