Yes, if done well enough not to actually ruin the songs! I particularly enjoy when Jimi Hendrix does it, name any song, he's probably lenghtened it live, with a million blazing guitar solo!. Mmm, amazing!.

Yeah! How's about Bryan Ferry [Roxy Music] covering Bob Dylan!? Red Hot Chili Peppers covering The Stooges!? Jim Carey covering The Beatles!? *shudder*

Honestly, I think a LOT of Doors songs are hard to classify into a genre, like The End for example!. And a lot of Jefferson Airplane songs, like Aerie, and some Velvet Underground songs, like Sweet Jane and Sunday morning - not very experimental/art rock are they!?:P And Gimme Shelter by The Rolling Stones!. There are loads!.

Thanks for another good question!. ^^Www@Enter-QA@Com

Are there any songs where you prefer a live version to the actual studio version!. If so, which bands and songs!?
The band Third Day, I think it's called, Love Song and and Willie Nelson's Seven Spanish Angels!. Tom Petty does a song dedicated to River Phoenix, but since there is no studio version (that I know of) that one doesn't count!.

Question #2: Do you particularly enjoy long drawn out live versions of a band's song that was a lot shorter on their album!? Like "Dazed & Confused (Live)" by Led Zeppelin!. If so, which bands and songs!?
I can't think of any examples, but (call me crazy) when they get carried away with instrumentals during a particular song it starts to get old!.

Question #3: Have you ever heard a song by a band that was covered by a band who's in a completely different genre!?

Yes!. Dwight Yoakam does a few rock and roll songs!.!.!.and actually does them justice!. He's done Crazy Little Thing Called Love, by Queen that was used in a GAP commercial!. Um!.!.Greatful Dead, Trucking!.!.!.Hmm, he does a couple others, but I can't think of them off the top of my head!. Oh, almost forgot, Johnny Cash has an album called Unchained!. He does Beck's Rusty Cage and Tom Petty's Southern Accents!. Tom Petty even does back up vocals for a couple songs!. If you like Cash the album is well worth the price of admission!.

Question #4: What are some great songs that can't really be put in an established genre!? I'm sure that what ever the song is, it can be put in some genre somewhere!. Take the song Fishheads!. It's a Dr!. Demento song or something!. Is Dr!. Demento a genre!? Hmmm, one time I saw this video that was kind of like a documentary about this band from Norway that smashed apliances while they sang!. Can't remember the name of it for the life of me, but I can ask if you want me to get back to you!. I can't think of what genre applicance smashing would be in!.
