I saw Dave on tour this summer right after LeRoi had his accident and I noticed the guy who filled in for him was very talented!. Who was he and could he become a permanent member!?

Jeff Coffin, of the band Bela Fleck and the Flecktones!. Unlikely he is permanent as he is already in another band!. The only reason he did tour with DMB was because the Flecktones had decided to take the summer off and he happened to be available!. DMB got lucky he was available, Jeff and Bela Fleck have more experience with DMB than any other guest musician, so he had already played on quite a few DMB songs over the past 10 years before filling in for LeRoi!.
