i hear people say Hammer was a sell-out because he did TV commercials (Pepsi, Taco Bell!.!.) and he had a MC Hammer cartoon!. but for the past ten years i see a rapper in just about every movie, i see rappers in sitcoms, i see rappers with their own energy drinks, clothing label, reality shows!.!.!.!. the list goes on!. and all the backlash that Hammer got for crossing over to a pop audience really wasn't fair!. today, hip-hop is more pop than it ever was!. just take a look at MTV!. making money isnt being a sellout but if you are like todays rappers they make money off of pain and suffering example 50 damn near every song he raps about it involves shoiting someone or selling dope and living in the hood!.!.!.He lives in tysons mansion he is filthy rich so uh drug dealing is outta the picture he cant shoot up people because he was lose everything he has!.!.!.but when little kids are growing up listening to that crap they think its true and people say well just dont allow kids to hear it they have it on almost every radio station oppressive music so to me thats a sellout when you make a ton of cash by feeding lies to people oh and I forgot to mention how the view of women are in this sellout rap!.!.!.!.!."nappy headed hoes"Www@Enter-QA@Com
He was definitely a sell-out!.He sold out tours!.He sold out record stores,and made alot of money off of his music!.So if he's a sell-out,just about anyone making money could be labeled a sellout,except maybe if they are underground they aren't sell-outs to a pop audience!.Www@Enter-QA@Com
They felt that he wasn't doin real hip hop becus he wasn't talkin about "the white man" and living in "the hood", slanging drugs and shooting ppl, so they called him a sell out becus many ppl around that time was into NWA and that genre of hip hop!.
