Is Alternative now "Emo?"?!
Question: Is Alternative now "Emo!?"!?
I'm really confused is Emo taking over and being considered alternative or is Alternative emo!? I keep getting told that Taking Back Sunday and Paramore are Emo but I don't think they are!. If people are saying they are Emo does that mean Alternative is now considered emo!? I could not find out what was emo about "Whats it Feel like to be a Ghost!." I never really thought Paramore was really that emo!. Paramore is a little bit but i don't think enough to be considered Emo!.
Anyway someone please explain because I don't really like emo people and I don't want to be called Emo for my music!.
If im right though I guess Emo is destroying alternative or alternative is now considered Emo!.!.

See, I always thought of emo as being under the alternative rock/pop umbrella!. It is one of the sub-genres of alternative rock, because, well, its not straight-up rock music!. It was born out of the alternative music scene and the punk and pop-punk scenes!. A lot of their influences come from alternative and post-punk!. So I kind of always looked at it as all emo is alt-rock but not all alt-rock is emo!. That's just me though - others may disagree!. The whole genre/sub-genre thing has gotten entirely too convoluted and unnecessarily confusing!.
but yeah, i don't think paramore is emo either!. people who seem to lump them with emo seem to lump all current pop-punk together with emo!. Its not really worth fighting, and, honestly, if they aren't willing to put in the effort to understand that - why bother!?Www@Enter-QA@Com

Who cares what's what!. If you like it listen to it, if you don't forget about it! Stop worrying about labels, and fitting into alternative and emo lifestyles, thats called being a TOOL!! Get you're own identity!!Www@Enter-QA@Com
I don't consider those bands emo or alternative!.!.!. More along the lines of rock and pop/rock!. Alternative is more like Smashing Pumpkins!.!.!.

Alternative rock & emo are entirely different genres!. However, you can get alternative emo!. Which is NOT a combination of alternative rock & emo but a less mainstream form of emo!. Just like you can get alternative rap!.
Alternative bands are 3 days grace, 3 doors down & seether!. They have more of a hard rock, southern rock & post grunge feel!.
Emo bands are My Chemical Romance & The Spill Canvas!. They are loosely based around the punk genre & share characteristics with pop punk!.
I would say Paramore & TBS are emo & pop punk!. They also dress like emos!.

2!. alternative can refer to anything that is not on commercial radio or radio stations with charts (you know the ones that people phone in and vote)!. in other words not popular music!. an alternative to popular music just means that some people choose not to listen to popular music!.
although there are many alternative music fans, it is not so much commercialised!. it is called alternative because it is different to the pop songs usually heard on the main radio stations!. those songs are just for people who want to have something nice to listen to in the car or at work, at home!.!.!. something easy to sing along to and that mostly everyone listens to!.
alternative can be punk, alternative rock, indie, roots, hardcore, blues, metal, etc!.
