Does Led Zeppelin's "Stairway to Heaven" talk about heaven, or hel!

Question: Does Led Zeppelin's "Stairway to Heaven" talk about heaven, or hell!? Or neither!?
This is a controversial song!. Although LZ has vehemently denied the satanic nature of this song, both outcomes are possible!. Even though the backwards lyrics are gibberish (and the only words that can be possibly be identified are 'satan' etc), the forward lyrics dont make too much sense either!. People who think LZ are satanic will ask the question: what does "if theres a bustle in your hedgerow" actually mean!? This is the only phrase in the song that seems clear listening backwards!. They might also ask, why does LZ repeat "sometimes words have two meanings" and "if you listen really hard"!. The ending music and tone of the song seems a bit odd to, considering how it started!.

However, people who say they werent satanists will claim backmasking was not very known at that time, and would require a decent amount of technology (to do it in the '70's)!. Thats true too!. also, most of the song is gibberish played backwards!. So both arguments have strong points and can be true, its only LZ who can truly tell you if the song was satanic or not (if they want to)!. But what does it mean for a song to be satanic!? Can someone just mention the term 'satan' in his song, and it becomes satanic!? i dont think so, and the only word that is clear listening backwards is satan!. the rest is gibberish!.

I dont think this is a satanic song!. Sure, they are clever enough to make one if they wanted to, i dont think this is; and i dont think they are a satanic band!. This is a stoner song, which is why its lyrics dont make sense to normal ppl listening to it!. im a stoner, and it makes perfect sense!. anyone whos a stoner would know what im talking about, i wont quote lyrics to support my claim because the whole lyrics are stoner lyrics!. This to me makes a lot more sense, than people talking about heaven and hell!.

read the book "Hammer of the Gods" - Stephen Davis!.The members of Led Zeppelin are major deities in the pantheon of rock gods!. The first and heaviest of the heavy metal monsters, they violently shook the foundations of rock music and took no prisoners on the road!.
The first attempts at lyrics, written by Led Zeppelin vocalist Robert Plant next to an evening log fire at Headley Grange, were partly spontaneously improvised and Page claimed, "a huge percentage of the lyrics were written there and then"!.[10] Jimmy Page was strumming the chords and Robert Plant had a pencil and paper!. Plant later said that suddenly,

"My hand was writing out the words, 'There's a lady is sure [sic], all that glitters is gold, and she's buying a stairway to heaven'!. I just sat there and looked at them and almost leapt out of my seat!." Plant's own explanation of the lyrics was that it "was some cynical aside about a woman getting everything she wanted all the time without giving back any thought or consideration!. The first line begins with that cynical sweep of the hand !.!.!. and it softened up after that!."[12]

The lyrics of the song reflected Plant's current reading!. The singer had been poring through the works of the British antiquarian Lewis Spence, and later cited Spence's Magic Arts in Celtic Britain as one of the sources for the lyrics to the song!.[8]

The song's instrumentals were written by Page "over a long period, the first part coming at Bron-Yr-Aur one night"!.[9] Page always kept a cassette recorder around, and the idea for "Stairway" came together from bits of taped music!.[10] In an interview he gave in 1977, Page explained:

I do have the original tape that was running at the time we ran down "Stairway To Heaven" completely with the band!. I'd worked it all out already the night before with John Paul Jones, written down the changes and things!. All this time we were all living in a house and keeping pretty regular hours together, so the next day we started running it down!. There was only one place where there was a slight rerun!. For some unknown reason Bonzo couldn't get the timing right on the twelve-string part before the solo!. Other than that it flowed very quickly!.[7]
