Hi there! So you want to buy a trumpet!. Well, there are a few things you must consider before you make your decision!.
First off, is this your first time picking up a horn, or are you simply looking for a new one!?
How often do plan on playing it!?
And what do you plan on using it for!? Jazz!? Classical!? Marching!?
If you are a beginning trumpet player, I would most definitely suggest a student model trumpet!. Try purchasing a Yamaha, or a Holten!. If you were to consider those, I would plan on spending somewhere anywhere between $500 to $800!. You also should consider whether you want to purchase a brand new horn or a used one!.
If you plan on using it more seriously, I would suggest getting a Pro model!. In this case, I would suggest a Monette (really expensive though), Taylor (even more expensive), Bach, Holton, King, etc!. If you were to consider buying one of these, I would plan on setting aside (excluding the Monette and Taylor) between $1200 to $2700!.
For sheer reference, Monettes range anywhere from $5,700 to $11,000!!! Taylors run about the same, although some of the custom trumpets they make can run up to $27,000!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Geez!.
