Question: RP: If the studio can make anyone sound good, then why do we not like Britney and the Jonas Brothers (etc!.)!?
Seems a bit opposite to me!. I've never heard anyone say "Yeah they sound good but I can't stand them!"!. So why do people say that!?
And yes, I'm generalizing!. I realize that some people out there may like B!.S!. or the JBs, I just picked two of the usually-hated music people/groups!.

Just to speak plain, not to be in any way mean, but I think you would find several platinum records that disagree with you!.
You may not like it, and I might not either, but there is certainly a market for it!.
To get to what I guess is the heart of the question, I think that people have more complaints about the content than the production in those cases!. I mean, there are people who like lesser production, and there are specific cases where people do the wrong stuff with the tools they are given, but I imagine the question is more broad than that!.

As a footnote, I also believe that the technology sometimes is made to take the blame when an artist and/or producer doesn't know when to stop!. Easy, the studio CAN'T make anybody sound good!. If you have an annoying as F%#* voice, you can't change it!.
Sure you can enhance ability, but voice changing is not doable!. distortion is a different story, but thats not to make one sound good but to add effect!.
Actually, sounding good isn't always necessary!. See Cobain!. He wasn't the best singer, but he worked in the music!. It all depends on the mood the song/band wants to convey!. Likewise, good singers can still make bad music, say its too sappy, too self rightous, or has pop-rock music surronding it!. because they have no talent, thats just it the studia makes creates their talent(im speaking hypithetically, they really have no talent) its not good!. their songs are meaningless and the tunes arent even written by them!. real bands like those of the rock genre(jonas brothers dont count) actually do make their own music AND write meaningfull lyrics and good tune to the song, that is a true artist in music

It depends on the band with me Vicky!.
Jimmy Page was a wizard in the Studio and he used different micing techniques, and multitudes of guitar overdubs to take baisc Zep Songs and turn them into legendary masterpieces, and I love and respect that!.
Then on the other hand You have (Sorry Lara, no offense) Dragonforce who, IMO, use the studio as a crutch to offset their laziness in not trying harder to make their music epic!. Instead of pushing themselves, they just push the technology!. And to me that's just epic fail!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

I dislike it because it is the studio that makes them sound good, and a lot of those type of musicians dont really have much talent!. Personally, I want the artist to "technically" deliver the best recording possible!. Who wants to listen to great material if it sounds like dog dew!? What recording artist wouldn't want access to the best production tools available!?

I think studios just make people sound different, more on key and so forth!. Like when Paris Hilton put out an album!. Clearly she could not tour to support that album because she doesn't actually sing like that!. So that would be a case of the studio making her sound "good"!. I guess it's personal prefernce!. Or if you mean something like your example, then lyrics may play a part in not liking an artist or band I guess!. Or it may be the artists personal life!. For me, a big reason why I hate them is because they rely to much on the studio!. They don't have enough talent so they let the studio make them better!. I think the studio is just suppose to touch of the sound here or there but not totally change the sound!.
Similar to that, when I found out Dragonforce speeds up there songs in the studio I lost a ton of respect for them!. Because it sounds like there just trying to impress people with what the studio can do, and not with what they can actually do!.
