Is audacity a good software for recording?!
Question: Is audacity a good software for recording!?
I downloaded the free software Audacity and I was wondering if it was a decent recording software for just a guitar/vocals recording!.

i've always gotten quality recordings with Audacity!.
it picks up very well, so i've always had to keep the computer away from where i was recording so the high guitar or high pitches won't screech!.
that's the only thing that's a pain with it!.
but!.!.!.there's prolly some setting that you can change to avoid that!.

For very basic stuff, ie, record + some edit + maybe some fx, then yes, it is perfectly acceptable!. I need more, so I don't use it except to edit samples!.
To the other answerer!.!.!. you plugged your mic into the "mic in" jack, and cranked your speakers up!. The "mic in" jack has a boost on it, so it's very hot, ie, very loud!. Good chance you'll overload your input if you do too much of that and fuzz out!. Try the "line in" jack next time, it's not as hot!.
