Rap and Hip Hop are a valid genre, although many songs are horrible, there are many in Rock too!. The problem is you're looking at mainstream Rap and not the real stuff, just like most people just look at mainstream rock!.
I prefer Rock over any other genre, but I at least listen to others to expand my taste and better understand music as a whole!. Ironically enough, many of Led Zepplin's, along with Cream, the Stones, The Who, Ten Years After, CSN&Y, and a plethora of other "white bands" drew a huge part of their cataloge from doing covers of THE OLD DELTA BLUES, done by such as Willie Dixon, Muddy Waters, Buddy Guy, Robert Johnson, and a ton of other BLACK dudes!.

By the ways i don't like rock music as much!. maybe a very little bit!. But not many songs i like are not rock music songs!. More like hip hop, rap ,r&b ,and pop and gospel!. The reason white kids are embracing hip hop and rap is because it is far more exciting and vibrant than pop (what you think rock is) has been for a long time!. Lets just look at an example: "fiddy cent was shot 8 times"; comparatively, Pete Wentz sends nude photos of himself to 14 year olds he meets on myspace!.!.!. who seems more interesting!?

Well, why do just about all black guys turn their back on the blues!? I mean, Buddy Guy and B!.B!. King (countless others, as well) were and still are great at the blues!.!.!.after they're gone, who'll be left to carry on the blues legacy!?
Anyway, rap is just a disgrace to ALL musical artists!. Everything other than rap and most pop takes talent!. For example, country, rock, blues and jazz all takes talent!. Many younger people--around my age even (I'm 18)--don't realize how much talent country takes to play, if the artist is good, like Brad Paisley!. Many don't realize how great Wes Montgomery and Django Reinhardt--two of jazz's greatest talents--really were!. The same thing goes for blues, rock and bluegrass artists--many are talented, yet younger people don't usually realize it!
