Question: I know how to play the piano but can you help me teach myself to play by ear!?

Answers:
1)try to learn all the scales and chords that go with them!. the more the better because most songs are based on certain scales
2)try to play the slowest clearest parts of the song first!. if you can find some exact notes then it will make it easier to sort of guess which notes to start messing around with!.
3)play the actual song and see if you can imitate it while its playing so that you can more or less see what octaves its in in what time or so that you can kind of get an idea of where on the piano to experiment!.
4)stop or pause the actual song and try to play by ear a section of it and keep doing it until it sounds about right!. then play the song and pause it, and try to play it again almost to compare them
so basically, 1)learn your scales and different chords 2)play the song and try to play along on the piano while it plays
3)pause it and try to play it without the song playing
and go back between 2 and 3!. while i have yet to competely play any song on ear i have found some of the notes for "lips of an angel" and "escape" and some chords that go with them!. but ultimately though you will have to have played the piano or any instrument for a while to where your ears have developed more and so you can hear the differences between the notes!.Www@Enter-QA@Com
