Could you please define 'mainstream'?!
Question: Could you please define 'mainstream'!?
When people use the word 'mainstream,' visions of Creed and Hannah Montana float in my head!.
But many of my all-time favorite bands -- The White Stripes, Radiohead, Oasis, Led Zeppelin, Coldplay, The Beatles, etc!. -- receive plenty of radio play and either topped the charts during their career or continue to do so!.
So, do I have 'mainstream' taste!? And if I do, why is 'mainstream' often treated as a dirty word!? Those bands are very creative and frequently praised by critics and music fans -- they aren't 'bad!.'
So what is mainstream!? Are those bands mainstream!? Am I mainstream because I listen to them despite the fact they sell millions of albums worldwide rather than 100 in an underground record shop!?Www@Enter-QA@Com

Mainstream is anything on the charts, but it's also really anything that has become popular (for instance, stuff like Jeffree Starr or whatever his/her name is)!.
Mainstream is "bad" here because people tend to think "Mainstream=Nickelback" or whatever !.!.!.!.!. often it's not a good thing, but just as often there are good mainstream bands!.
Don't worry about it too much!. My favorite bands are highly mainstream in their area!.
Anyway, I'd rather listen to a good mainstream band than a crappy underground one!. Works the other way around too!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

Mainstream is anything you will find on top of the charts or every single radio station!.
It gets a bad name here because people including myself associate names like Fergie, Lil Wayne, Tokio Hotel and other *artists* as mainstream crap!.

Well, older mainstream is good, recent mainstream just sucks!. Even though Radiohead and The White Stripes were most popular in the 2000s, they still aren't recently mainstream!. Just because you like one recently mainstream band (Coldplay),doesn't mean you have a mainstream music taste!.Www@Enter-QA@Com
I consider commercially successful bands mainstream!. Mainstream isn't necessary bad!. It's just that when it comes to commercial success, there's bound to be "musicians" who care more about making the bank than the music!. You have to sort through the garbage to find the gems!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

Mainstream means that majority of the population enjoy the music!. For the music you listen yes its Mainstream however not the "Dirty" Mainstream!.
It seams in my opinion that nowadays the more underground music a person listens to the better because they are unheard of it makes them something special, and more interesting which to be honest is a little pathetic!. Although you get alot of people who truley do like the music which is fair enough, whats not is those people that listen to it to look cool

The Bad mainstream: bands like Panic at the disco, Fallout boy, the jonas brothers, Paramore,Good charlotte, all of the pop-rock/rock bands that have A majority of people enjoying their music, which are mostly pre teens, early teens and wannabes which is why bands like thees have got a bad reputation within some genre's!.
Yet again there is the good kind of mainstream which is:
Led zeppelin, Metallica, the beatles,Oasis,AC/DC, guns and roses ect!.!.!. and theese are okay to listen to because they are legends and will no doubt remain legends however in 10 years time Ill bet anything Fall out boy will have been forgotten about!.
