Question: Would you rather listen to what YOU like and be happy, or listen to what others deem "good music" and be bored!?

And does that extend to fans who like bubblegum/teen pop or "deathcore" (or whatever it's called, sorry) or nu metal or rap or music in foreign languages, etc!. etc!. etc!.!?
Here's another thought - do you think people who like stuff like Flo-Rida or Miley Cyrus would like something that you consider talented if they gave it a chance and listened to it!? (Maybe not stuff that YOU listen to all of the time, I just mean talented stuff in other genres)

I would everytime choose to listen to music that I like, not because I'm selfish but because the music they listen to is most of the time not music, and it would be doing them a favor to get them to like good music!.

I always give music a chance to show its merits because just because its not a particular genre I like doesnt make it bad!.
Most people are not like this however!.
When people fret and cling to all these superficial views of things then you really cant expect them to be any different about something like music!. They have warped views of reality and what really matters and so they think that if they were to listen to anything out of their boring comfort circle then they are being heretical!.
its just like the reason catholics dominated europe for so long!. people were afraid that using their brains was bad because thats what they were taught to think!.

My friends like rap and like most rock fans I didnt!. but then one of my friends told me why he liked a few select rappers, Little Wayne and Jay Z to be exact, and when I opened my ears i learned I liked it too!. I definitely have my own tastes in music, and don't listen to what other people say unless it has to do constructively with my tastes!. Most people that live in the same area as I do listen to crap anyway!.
