Why do people like The Doors so much?!

Question: Why do people like The Doors so much!?
I mean, they're worth a listen!.!.!. but when compared to Led Zeppelin, or other popular bands of the era, they just don't match up for me!. I've just seen so many people who prefer The Doors over so many of the top-notch bands of the 60's and 70's!. Forgive me if I find that preferring The Doors over Led Zeppelin is treason!. I guess I just don't like Jim Morrison's singing!.!.!. not dynamic enough for me I guess!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

Answers:
People, or at least I like the Doors because of what the represent!. Jim Morrison was not a singer, he was a poet, they were not a "rock" band, they were a flamenco guitarist, a jazz drummer and a classically trained keyboardist that twisted and crawled their way through your speakers and invited you to come along for a journey!. The Doors blew the lid off of the boundaries of rock n roll and drove the nail in the the coffin of the flower power, love and peace, music of the late sixties!.

The lyrics are incredible!.!.!. read "The Unknown Soldier", "Not to Touch the Earth", "When the Music's Over", "Riders on the Storm"!. The world was moving forward through Vietnam, the assassinations of the Kennedy's and Martin Luther King Jr!. were still right there in the rear view mirror!.!.!.!.

The Doors are poetry, art, music, fusion, a band on a quest!. The highs were monumental, the lows were devastating!.!.!. But the passion, the chaos, the explosiveness of the The Doors is still there!.!.!.

Pick up "An American Prayer", check out "Peace Frog" "L!.A!. Woman", "L'America"!.!.!. "Break on Through (to the other side)"- the live version with the Dead Cats, Dead Rats intro!.!.!. Check out "The Wasp- Texas Radio & the Big Beat"!.

You are right, the band is not prototypical!. They are not Zeppelin, or Cream, !.!.!. but my friend!.!.!. if you do not find the Doors dynamic you probably don't know where to look!. I am not here to sell you, or to change you!.!.!. but the Doors to me are one of the top five bands in the history of Rock!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

I'm glad you asked this question, because I've often wondered myself, just could never understand why everyone has always thought that "The Doors Rock" - - I mean, ok, they have maybe one song I can actually listen to without changing the station, but to be so devoted, I just never got it!.

I totally agree with your statement that Morrison's singing just isn't dynamic enough -- - well said!

Amen, and thanks! I'm SO glad that I'm not the only one who has ever wondered!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

Because Jim Morrison was one of the most brilliant poets ever!. He had one of the most powerful, soulful voices ever!. Their sound was unique, and has never been replicated!. Personally, I much prefer The Doors to Led Zeppelin (not that I dislike led zep,) but it's entirely a matter of personal preference!.

How is his voice not "dynamic" enough!?!?!? Listen to Break On Through, Take It As It Comes, Wild Child, etc!.!.!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

No one should compare the Doors to Zepplin--that is two very separate genres!. The Doors were the 60s version of Nirvana!. Considering that Ray Manzarek and Jim Morrison met at UCLA, they were kind of artsy with a psychadelic blend that was popular in LA back in the mid 60s!. Morrison considered himself more of a poet than a lyricist and liked to stir up the status quo when on stage!. Www@Enter-QA@Com

Because they were amazing musicians!?

and totally different from Zepellin!. Plus!.!.Jim Morrison was one of the most soulful singers in Rock ever!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

I guess it all just depends on your taste and preference!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

i dont like the doors!.!.!.does that make me inhuman!?!? no!.Www@Enter-QA@Com
