Are most R&P users stuck in the past when it comes to music?!

Question: Are most R&P users stuck in the past when it comes to music!?
It seems people just will not accept anything new in here unless its some lame indie crap!. And even when a old school band like metallica comes out with a great album people just seem to b*tch that its not as good as the old stuff!. The old days are not coming back people!. Any one else agree with me!?

P!.S!. i'm in my 20s and i am not some punk kid who doesn't know there was some good albums back in the day but I can change with the times!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

I know what you mean, it's just that when Metallica comes out with something as killer as MoP, everything else they put out, whether you realize it or not, you will compare to their greatest!. It's just like concerts in the sense that as soon as you go to an absolutely amazing concert, EVERY other concert you go to will be compared to that one, whether you realize it or it is subconscious!.

However, R&P seems pretty up to date on their music though!. We don't really live in the past, we just use the past as a comparison for what is happening in music now!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

WTF Over half of everyone on here listen to music from today and like some of the bands of today!. They also listen to classic but they are not elitists for the most part everyone on here is open minded and very knowledgeablele when it comes to music!. I'm 18 and I listen to everything including stuff from today!. So take your bs and shove where the sun don't shine!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

I don't care from what time the music is from, if it sounds good then I'll listen to it, however I think that there is a lot more music that was made in the old days that is way better then the newer stuff that comes out nowadays!. That doesn't mean that I only listen to old music from 20 or 30 years ago, it just means that I am very picky with my music and it's easier(at least for me) to find good older bands then to go on myspace and look for new bands that are making music as we speak!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

I have thousands of albums and buy several hundred a year!. If I only listened to "old school", I'd already have all the albums!. Indie has been a meaningless term for at least fifteen years, but I do listen to a lot of Americana, Folk, Blues, Country, Punk, etc!. etc!. etc!.

Metallica bores me, sorryWww@Enter-QA@Com

YES!!!

i feel like 1/2 of R&Per's are a bunch of middle aged men stuck in the past that ONLY listen to metallica, nirvana, pink floyd, ect!.

people need to stop whining and complaining that there is no good, new rock and that things aren't like the old days!.!.!.there are good bands out there from today, you just need to look for them under the pile of mainstream crap most people listen toWww@Enter-QA@Com

I'm 18 and I can't stand MOST modern rock acts (all types of rock styles, that is)!. However, there are some modern bands, such as Avenged Sevenfold, who are actually talented!.

Of course, I have found that modern country has better musicians than modern rock!. Ever hear of Brad Paisley!? He's one of the best guitarists I have ever heard in my life--technically better than Slash (how many thumbs down will that get me!? At least five, I'd say) and much better than Joe Perry and a bunch of other crappy overrated guitarists that rip off licks and things from everyone who came before them!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

Sorry, I'm one of those people stuck in the past!. I'm 18 by the way!.

But I do try to be open minded!. I don't just pass something off as crap just because it's new!.

I do like some new bands By the way, very few but they include The Strokes and The Kings of Leon!. They actually arn't that bad : )Www@Enter-QA@Com

No!. I disagree!. Can't speak for anyone else, but I'm a R&P user!. I love music from the past!.!.!.!.!.!.!.& today!. Along w!. "lame indie crap"!.!.!.!.!.!.& some metal!.!.!.!.!.& hip hop, some new alt' rock, any suggestions people throw my way!.!.!.!.!.!.etc !.!.you get the picture!.

Sounds like *you're* close-minded when it comes to indie!.

So what's great current stuff in your opinion!?Www@Enter-QA@Com

I KNOW the old days aren't coming back!.!.!.that's why I have itunes and satellite radio, so I can at least enjoy the old music I love!.

It's just a matter of preference!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

No, I disagree with you!.!.!.most people here do like recent bands!.!.!.you are obviously to ignorant to acknowledge that fact!.

P!.S you failWww@Enter-QA@Com

I agree and ask a Q!. similar to this yesterday and it mostly classic rock fans they are very closed-minded they to open their ears to something new Www@Enter-QA@Com

I will admit that I am one of the one's you are talking about!. Most but not all people stick with what they listened to when they were younger!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

It's all personal preference!. I prefer a lot of older bands, but I will still give new ones a chance, so long as they have TALENT!Www@Enter-QA@Com

Uh!.!. No!.!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

Who are you!.!.!.

pretty much 75 percent of the music i listen to is recent!.
Thank you very muchWww@Enter-QA@Com

Because kids like you need to be taught about music history!. You're just seeing the leaves, you're not even thinking about the roots or who planted the seed to those trees!.

You see the bands you listen to now will one day be some know it all kid's "dino rock" too, so don't think you're immune or your taste will be either!.

You are right, The old days aren't coming back, But the "old days" music will out last the disposable stuff that comes out today!.

Do you really think there will be a big need for an A7X reunion in 2027 like there was for Zep last year!?

By the way if its good us old folks will know about it son!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

As of maybe the mid 90's there's now alot of music today that I feel all sounds basically the same!. You go to a rock station and theres alot of yelling!. You go to a rap station and many lyrics sing about much of the same thing!. You go to a pop station and you cant tell which artist is singing it because songs are so similar!. All the sounds of Rock, pop, rap, techno you name it all evolved from older music when the artists werent in abundance like it is today and you have to have an apprication for that!. I'm not saying I don't like todays music or artists but back then I didn't feel I needed to turn the station after every song to try to find the best song for the moment Back then it was All new and compelling!. The many, many, many artists of today got their influence from the best like Led Zeplin, Rolling stones, Janis Joplin, Fleetwood Mac, The Who, Run DMC, Madonna, David Bowie, etc!. Www@Enter-QA@Com

I admit that I'm stuck in the past when it comes to music!. *In my opinion* that was when music was at its best!. You can't compare all the amazing power bands of yesterday, to the mediocre acts out there today!. "Changing with the times" isn't the issue here - rather a lack of strong, undeniable talent in nowadays songs (not in all songs, but most)!. Not everyone is as willing to just accept whatever is out there - some of us still expect that bar to be cleared without having to lower it!. There are a few of us left who do still expect substance and when we find it, we will be the first to admit it!. There isn't a conspiracy against new music, we just aren't looking to settle!. As much as you think people should accept new, maybe you should do your part and accept the "old" as well!.

also, it's not even a matter of "being stuck in the past" for the most part because the majority of older bands that are brought up here in R&P are the same bands that still receive airplay to this day!. Turn on the radio and see for yourself!.!.!. a great song will always be a great song!. That's the amazing thing about music - there's no expiration date!. Www@Enter-QA@Com
