Question: What is the oldest anyone has started to study music and become professional, such a composer, or a pianist!.!?
I am just curious because I want to go into music!. I have studied it some, including a year of music theory in college as well as my own self-taught piano for many years now!. I am a composer, and I am considering career options!. I want to know if I'd be an anomaly if I were successful or what!.!.!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

I've had singers start in their 50s or 60s and go on to have retirement careers!.

I've had pianists who were 50 and gone on to have careers, too!. I just haven't gotten anyone in my studio for piano who was older than that!.

I don't teach composing but plenty of composers were originally lawyers or judges and then turned to composing in later life!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

Basically, most people start young - or, very young!

In my case, I started Piano age 4, Trumpet age 8, Clarinet age 14, Music Theory age 6, Composition age 16!.

I was considered a late starter at age 16 on the Composition front!.

In 1979 (still age 18) I wrote some music for Clarinet & Piano!. It was published by Universal Edition in 1986 and recorded on CD by Deborah de Graaff in Australia in 1995!. It was broadcast on Australia ABC Classic FM 2004 and again 2005!.

In the light of this information, it might give you some perspective on the difficulties of cracking the Composing world!Www@Enter-QA@Com
