Girls like music that doesn't make them feel stupid but i know girls listen to SOME of those artists!. Cats like Elzhi are on a different level of hip hop intelligence, S!.A!.R!.A!.H!. and Love are two tracks that made me re-think the concept of a love song!.
MF doom is too abstract for most guys let alone girls!.!.!.- I randomly played a track and he was talking about getting emails from girls posing naked!.
Mos Def has the same problem as ELZHI!. but i'm sure most girls have "ms fat booty" on their album!. He also kinda alienated potential listeners who hadn't already heard of him with the strange sample choices on "The New Danger"!.
Pharohe Monch has the curse of the poet in my opinion!.!.!.Monch dropped his best material in a climate of hip hop where the emphasis on lyricism was slowly dissapearing!.!.It kinda hurt him because hes one of the truely LYRICAL mcs!.
Whenever i play a girl some of my stuff, They say "I don't get this" or " i dont know what he/she is talking about"!. Thus, every girl has plies,ace,hood,lil boosie and Soulja Boy in recently played on their ipod!.

Honestly though i dont think its an understanding thing as it is more of an exposure thing!. As guys, we grow up listening and doing things completely different than girls normally do!. If we listened to hip hop early on chances are good we got to experience a lot of different artists vs a shorty that didnt grow up with hip hop but listens to the radio now, so they havent aquired a taste for real MC's!. And in all fairness, most women are (not all cuz i know exceptions to this) attracted to the dance/clubby ish thats on virtually all radios!. When they go to clubs they dont want to listen to ish that they have to think about!. They want to dance!. Which is cool cuz thats what clubs are for but then thats why all the rap/hiphop ish in their ipods have no substance, just a dope beat with repetative lyrics!. As a side note to the fellas, congrats if you got hold of a real hip hop shorty cuz they are impossible to find!Www@Enter-QA@Com

Hmm I listen to Mos Def and De La Soul going to have to look up the rest!. But to answer the question because most female today don't listen to lyrics they listen to beats!. Ask a girl to quote even some of the songs on the radio and they won't be able to!. As rare as it is maybe you're not looking in the right spots!. Www@Enter-QA@Com
Okay so i dont really know but i would guess women are more inclined to listen to music to dance to,while men are more likely to enjoy something more lyrical that they can maybe learn from!.Like hormonal differences!.But i do know a few girls who listen to stuff like Talib Kweli,common,Nas etc,not really anything more underground though!.Www@Enter-QA@Com
