a) You LIKE the band if you enjoy their hits when they come on the radio!.!.!.
b) Or you are a FAN if you have purchased at least 1 of their albums and enjoy listening to the whole record!.!.!.

its like this with pretty much all mainstream music, radio stations will only air what people want to hear, and if a few of the songs on the album don'tt cut it, well then only those who actually bother to buy the album or download it in many cases will ever hear those songs!. also, in my opinion, it only takes one song to become a "fan"!. I went to an MCR show at the end of last year and there was a girl there that was teaching another girl the words to 'Welcome to the Black Parade' but she claimed to be like a huge MCR fan!. I'm pretty sure people who despise them still know some of the words to that song!. And she had nooo idea about their first album!.

Such is the nature of the beast, my friend!. It's even worse with good classic rock bands, the two worst examples I've seen being Zeppelin and Motorhead!. People hear Ace of Spades or Stairway in Guitar Hero or on the radio and decide they can now call themselves "fans" of the band!. I find it best just to ignore the ignorant, and carry on listening to the other good music that you know the band has!.Www@Enter-QA@Com
I'm very careful about dubbing myself a "fan" of a certain band, just so I don't get called out or look like a moron!. This isn't only true for SOAD!. This is truth for most all popular/major bands, especially classic rock!.Www@Enter-QA@Com
The same reason people say they are huge Pink Floyd fans and say their favorite song is "the one that goes 'we don't need no education'"!. They are just trying to fit in or impress someone, although any true fan of any band will just see their true ignorance!.Www@Enter-QA@Com
