Who was/is the most influential person or band in music?!

Question: Who was/is the most influential person or band in music!?
Answers:
I think:

The Beatles, they have influenced: Oasis, Electric Light Orchestra, Tom Petty, Bruce Springsteen, Yes, Badfinger, the Replacements, Elton John, Big Star, the Rolling Stone, the Mamas & the Papas, KISS, the Monkees, the Hollies, Moby Grape, the Rutles, the Byrds, Paul Simon, Todd Rundgren, Crowded House, Harry Nilsson, Van Morrison, the Chemical Brothers, Pink Floyd, Radiohead, Gram Parsons, the Verve, Panic at the Disco, U2, Donovan, Peter & Gordon, Eric Clapton, Echo & the Bunnymen, Tears for Fears, Arcade Fire, Keane, Kasabian, Led Zeppelin, Wilco, Steve Miller Band, Blue Oyster Cult, the Mothers of Invention, Phish!.!.!. !.!.!. !.!.!.

The Velvet Underground: Sonic Youth, the Ramones, New York Dolls, Patti Smith, Roxy Music, Duran Duran, Siouxsie & the Banshees, Iggy Pop, MC5, Neu!, Talking Heads, Television, David Bowie, the Fall, the Modern Lovers, Mott the Hoople, Jeff Buckley, Leonard Cohen, the Strokes, os Mutantes, Joy Division, the Buzzcocks, the Clash, the Sex Pistols, the Cure, Love, the Doors, Simple Minds, Japan, Nick Cave & the Bad Seeds, Nirvana, Cat Power, Yo la Tengo, Tori Amos!.!.!. !.!.!. !.!.!.

and Kraftwerk: Gary Numan, Afrika Bambaataa, Coldplay, Yello, Crystal Castles, Grandmaster Flash, the Neptunes, Brian Eno, Throbbing Gristle, Cabaret Voltaire, Nine Inch Nails, Jay-Z, Se?or Coconut y Su Conjunto, Daft Punk, Yellow Magic Orchestra, New Order, Underworld, Orbital, Faust, Einzturzande Neubauten, Babasónicos, Beck, Rammstein, The Orb, The KLF, Madonna, Depeche Mode, De La Soul, R!.E!.M!., OMD, Fatboy Slim, 2 Live Crew, the Human League!.!.!. !.!.!. !.!.!.

Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, Metallica, Black Sabbath, Elvis Presley, Iron Maiden, the Sex Pistols, the Rolling Stones, etc have influenced many other bands but they didn't "create" as many genres as the bands up there did or influenced bands that have nothing to do with others they influenceWww@Enter-QA@Com

In General, I really do not have a clue!. I can not remember the last time one artist had that much an influence on music as a whole!. This following is how I can follow your question the best:

For Rap, Jay-Z influenced SO many artist!. Before his "retirement", he came out with an album EVERY year!. During his little hiatus, other artist started to do the same!. All of them are trying to be creative and come out with new styles and catchy lyrics!. With new fresh beats on every track, but with alot of songs that make no sense!. When he came back 3 years later, good artists got better and the rest still kept doing the same thing!.

Rock & Roll: Veterans and the well known artists carry the torch and still influence this genre!. Every now and then new artists and/or groups put new life in the genre and music all together, but everyone else has started to sound the same or go Pop!.!.!.

Pop: The genre is slowly eating up artists that come out saying they are from another genre!. Anyone in this genre sound the same and nothing is original!. So whenever you here something that is POP, every child/preteen/teen loves it!. How can you not love something that sounds like the song you just heard!.

Country & R&B: The same as Rock And Roll!. Veterans keep the genre intact!. I mean you have artists that are pop coming out with country albums and vice versa!. Artists with country music upbringings are going pop!. R&B artists are starting to be considered pop or coming out with country albums!. Bobby Brown & Sisqo are SERIOUSLY working country albums after that cruddy reality show!.

In closing, the only people that influence anyone in music are the artist and bands that are true to the definition of music AKA real artists!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

Roger Waters!. When one man runs the 2-hour Marathon, many try to imitate, but fail!. Mr!. Waters is pure cool, and marinated with absolute talent!. If he ever ran for any public office, his fans would kill him, as he belongs behind a microphone with guitar, not suitcase!.

The Beatles, though clean cut and well educated, never had a single actual hit, and most can't recite a single memorable line from their brief flareout-careers!.

There is only one God, and that God has Roger Waters on His iPod!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

Chuck Berry and the other original rockers from the 50's!.

Then the Beatles, who inspired most bands around today!.

After that point, you have bands who are of incredible importance to their own genre (Metallica for example) but who may not have been very influential outside of that!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

I really want to say Beatles, but it seems like such a generic and overly-used answer that I just can't bring myself to do it!.

Instead, I'll say Bob Dylan!. Not necessarily influential like my copying his style, but in more of a political/religious sense!. He was EXTREMELY influential!. Listen to songs like Hurricane or Joey!. Those have a lot of meaning!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

My humble opinion!.!.!. in "Top 10" order (which can be debatable!.!.!.):

1!.) Led Zeppelin (1st hard rock/"heavy metal" band
2!.) Jimi Hendrix (completely out-of-the-box thinking)
3!.) Black Sabbath (original metal)
4!.) Iron Maiden (harmonizing guitars)
5!.) Metallica (1st really fast and heavy band w/ beasting solos)
6!.) Kurt Cobain (the whole grunge "I don't care how I look, I just wanna rock")
7!.) Guns 'n' Roses (what guitarist doesn't know "Sweet Child 'O Mine"!?)
8!.) Eric Clapton (just plain great guitarist)
9!.) The Beatles (This one should have been farther up!.!.!. too late now!.!.!.)
10!.) Layne Staley (completely unique vocal style)

Well, that's my thoughts on this!.!.!. plus a few more: The Rolling Stones, Red Hot Chilli Peppers, and Yngwie Malmsteen!.Www@Enter-QA@Com
