You need to find what your range is by doing warm-ups!. Always warm-up from the middle of what you think your range is, down, then back up to what you think you can sing to, back down a little, and then see how high you can go without hurting anything, of course!. If you have a voice teacher, he or she will help you with this!. If you are serious at all about singing you need to be taking lessons to help you learn to sing correctly!. There are many damaging things a singer can do to his or her voice without proper training!.

"Timbre" is actually the color or tone of your voice, not what part you sing!. Timbre can play a role in finding what specific fach you belong into, but for now you should just find a general range!.

"Fach" is a method of classifying singers, primarily opera singers, by the range, weight, and color of their voices!. (dictionary definition) Look at http://en!.wikipedia!.org/wiki/Fach to find a very detailed description of the fachs!. It tells you what notes are in each specific one and the timbres each part sings with!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

I am currently a music student and it can take years to know what your true voice part is!. If you are thinking about singing as a career, i would recommend voice lessons from a credible teacher!. If you are someone you likes to sing for the fun of it, you have to make a self assessment!.

soprano- the highest female voice part, if you find it easier to sing in a high register or your voice is strongest up there, you are most likely a soprano!.

mezzo soprano- if you find it easier to sing in a lower register you are probably a mezzo!.

alto- this is a term used in the "choir world" but not really the "opera world" to define voice parts!. very few women are true altos because most women cannot sing THAT low!. if someone asks you if you are a soprano or alto they mean high or low most of the time!.

I really hope this helped!
