Electric or Acoustic, Regular or Bass - Which should I learn?!

Question: Electric or Acoustic, Regular or Bass - Which should I learn!?
I'm thinking about learning to play the guitar but can't decide which type!. I listen to rock and acoustic so musically any would be ok right!?

Which is louder!? I live with other people and will probably be practising late at night so is an electric better because I can put headphones in the amp!? Or is the sound coming from the guitar the same as an acoustic!?

You can have an acoustic version of most songs so are acoustics more versatile!?

And what are the pros and cons of bass!? I know it's easier but is it as enjoyable!?

Sorry if I sound naive but I'm a total beginner!Www@Enter-QA@Com

Electric guitar is physically easier for a beginner to play - but costs more!. It has a more versatile set of sounds!.
Unless your walls are really thin, an acoustic guitar shouldn't be loud enough to disturb others (unless you're REALLY going for it!)
You could start on either and switch to the other quite easily!.
As for "bass versus guitar", well bass guitarists are, like drummers, ALWAYS in demand, whereas there are usually way too many guitarist out there to compete with - so if you play bass, you'll be able to find a band fairly easily!. The downside is that bass can be a bit less challenging to start off with, and it's not as entertaining to play on your own!. also, bass guitars are usually electric and need an amp, so the whole set-up will probably cost more!.
I'd suggest starting on bass - if you really don't get on with it, you can always sell your gear and buy a guitar later if you want!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

I think its better to start with an acoustic guitar!. It's less noisy, its a nuisance playing with headphones because the chord gets in your way when your trying to play, and you don't have to worry about muting strings!. It's not that difficult to change later or learn on both at the same time, it doesn't make that much difference!. Learn guitar before bass guitar because its much easier to learn to play bass if you already play guitar than the other way round!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

I would say learn on acoustic!. I had an electric guitar to learn on and the strings really hurt my fingers!. It would be better if you got an acoustic with soft strings not metal and learn all the chords on there!. When you think you've perfected the basics on acoustic then decide whether you want to go for bass or electric (if either)!. You need quick fingers to play electric because it's normally the lead and good at keeping rythmn for bass!.

A lot of people start with an acoustic (I did) but there's nothing wrong with starting with an electric!. An acoustic wouldn't be too loud, electrics are pretty much silent without amplification (or with headphones)!.

Bass isn't necessarily easier, I found I don't enjoy it but everybody is different, give it a go and you'll find what suits you!.

Good luck, ROCK ON!Www@Enter-QA@Com

any guitar will do but when you buy one get the best one you can afford then once you've learnt to play you won't have to upgrade as most people do as guitar or bass just try one out to see if you like it
do you like my brian may guitar cool ain't it Www@Enter-QA@Com

I think acoustic, any song can be put into an acoustic format so as you said so yourself, its quite versatile
My friend can play bass but she finds it really dull but I think it all just depends on how much you love to play the instrument itselfWww@Enter-QA@Com

I tried the acoustic guitar!. I liked it, but I quit after a couple months of lessons!. I tried the electric bass and loved it!. I would recommend it to anyone!.Www@Enter-QA@Com
