If you really want to hear something cool, check out "Baba Yaga's Hut" and "Great Gate of Kiev" by Emerson, Lake, and Palmer!. It's a rock version the original score done by Modest Mussorgsky and arranged by Maurice Ravel!. It's really cool!

also, all music shares the following elements: melody (notes), rhythm, dynamics (louds and softs), form (structure), and style (articulation)!. Even rock songs!. The next time you are listening to some rock, try to see if you can pick up on these elements!. For form, try to see if there are any repeated sections, and how often they repeat vs!. the rest of the piece!. Are there two distinct sections, where one returns at the end!? Is there more than one melody!? For articulation, is the music accented (hard attacks)!? Is it smooth and connected (legato)!? I think you'll find that popular music shares more with classical than you previously knew!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

My opinion, I personally thought 'Boston' (from the late 70's) had a classical style to their music - melodic riffs, harmonic structures not unlike Mozart - a cadence that I had never seen in Rock before they came along!Www@Enter-QA@Com

Symphonic rock bands (think Epica) draw on classical music a bunch!.

I think!.Www@Enter-QA@Com
