Why do music critics hate popular acts and "catchy"songs that the publ!

Question: Why do music critics hate popular acts and "catchy"songs that the public like!.!.eg wings!?
they alway seem to diss wings,Abba,Fleetwood mac,and sometimes even!.!.Gasp!!.!.Queen!
Now my fave band are the Beatles, who the critics love too(Obviously, who does not!.!.), but what is really wrong with the above bands!?
They always seem to like less well loved stuff like dylan (i suppose he is ok) or the ramones and stuff!. why dont they like songs like mull of kintyre, ebony and ivory, and i want to break free, but always lavish praise on bands with singers who cant sing full notes (they just sound like they are shouting or talking)!. WHY,critics,WHY!?Www@Enter-QA@Com

Answers:
BECAUSE THERE DIFFERENT, BUT THATS WHAT MAKES THERE MUSIC SO UNIQUE!.!.!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

Well, Paul McCartney has been coasting on his reputation for over 30 years now, so perhaps "Ebony and Ivory" is not the best example you could have chosen!.

The short answer to your question is, because critics are looking for something new and interesting, whereas radio is generally looking for something just like whatever sold a million copies last week!. Therefore the high-popularity acts tend to sound derivative of each other and not excite the critics!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

tired of hearing the same ol' same ol', they're looking for originality and trend settersWww@Enter-QA@Com

I don't know why they don't like most of that stuff but abba kind of sucks!.Www@Enter-QA@Com
