It is from the second movement, Air, from the Ouverture (Orchestral Suite) No!. 3 in D major, BWV 1068 by the seminal German Baroque composer Johann Sebastian Bach (b!. 1685 – d!. 1750), and composed around 1720!.
You may also come across the name "Air on a G-String" although strictly this is the name of an arrangement of the Air, transposed so that it could be played on the g-string of a violin!.
