Emotions is a great start!. The way someone, something or somewhere has influenced you or made you feel!. From there you can also write about someone that means something to you (good or bad) and how that makes/made you feel!. Past situations or events also make a great song!. You explain, describe or complain about something that has hurt you, inspired you, haunted you etc!. I find that the best way to write a song is to let your heart take over and just pour out all the emotions!. Once you've got that, you can switch to using logic (your brain) and sort it out so it makes sense etc!. If you are really stuck have a look at the lyrics of some of your favorite songs, many songs are about a relationship or person!. Another idea would be to write about a dream you've had or a nightmare and how it affected you, etc!. Good luck!.
