hi listen, you needs to learn both try to pick out the riffs your-self providing your guitar is in tune its part of the fun of learning until you can read chords/ tabs!. there is such a thing as learning to play by ear!. good luck :-)Www@Enter-QA@Com
All songs worth mentioning have both solo tracks (which hardly ever use chords, and if they do they're usually arpeggios), and rythm tracks, which use chords almost exclusively!.
What you get on websites as "tabs" are typically really chordcharts, and usually poor ones at that, and thus contain only the rythm part!.
Buy yourself some songbooks, there are quite a few from for example the Hal Leonard corporation, that are made for beginners (usually by simplifying the music, removing the more complicated overtones)!.
