I need some help on this Rolling Stone lyric?!

Question: I need some help on this Rolling Stone lyric!?
Well, it was part of a radio trivia question some time ago and I've replayed it a few times and it's driving me nuts!. It begins with what seems to be them singing I was born in a class 5 hurricane!.!.!. blah, blah, blah, something about the wind was howling I'm pretty sure it's Jumping Jack Flash!. What the Hell is the opening lyric saying!. I know it's not class 5 hurricane but, it sure sounds like that's what he's saying!. Please correct me and clear this up for me!. Thanks I'm tired of thinking so hard trying to figure it out!. LOL Www@Enter-QA@Com

All the lyrics sources I can find give the opening lyric as "I was born in a cross-fire hurricane", but I have always thought that the word was "cross-eyed" instead of "cross-fire"!.
It seems to me to make more sense, too! After all, hurricanes have an "eye", and a "cross-eyed" hurricane would be one heck of a messed up hurricane to be born in! What the heck would a "cross-fire" hurricane be!?Www@Enter-QA@Com

Hurricane
(Jagger/Richards)

Everyone in town remembers the last hurricane
Everyone in town hopes it won't happen again
Oh how it shrieks
Days turn into weeks
'Cause nobody knew which way the wind blew

But oh how it shrieks
Days turn into weeks
'Cause nobody knows which way the wind blows

Everyone in town remembers the last hurricane
Everyone in town hopes it doesn't happen again
'Cause oh how it shrieks
Days turn into weeks
And nobody knew, no one in town knew
Which way the wind blew
