Why is there no sound comes from my amp when I plug in my guitar?!

Question: Why is there no sound comes from my amp when I plug in my guitar!?
At my school Jazz Band, I plugged in my guitar, but no sound would come out!. I have used that same guitar in the same amp the day before and all worked well!. After putting the cable and amp through some tests with different instruments, my instructor told me that something was wrong with my guitar!. When I plugged the guitar in at home, same thing happened, no sound!. (And yes, I did make sure the volume on the amp and on the guitar were on)!.

I sent my guitar for repairs, hoping that whoever would get it would fix it!. I'm just curious, what was wrong with my guitar!? Was it something with the electronics!?

OH YEAH! One more thing: The volume knob on my guitar was really loose!. For example, the knob would keep turning and turning forever, and would just never stop!. I took the knob off, and turned the little switchy-thing to the right (which would be max volume) and still nothing came out!.!.

Thanks for your help! Www@Enter-QA@Com

Max volume to the right!? I guess so, if you look at it the right way!.!.!.

Usually the explanation in situations like this lies with the soldering in the guitar somewhere!.!.!.!. most usually in the jack!. A loose wire, needs to be soldered back on, that kinda thing!. Gee, I really hope you checked the cable before you decided it was the guitar!. Cables can fail very easily, guitars not so much if it was serviced by a decent tech!.
