Which boss pedals would work best?!

Question: Which boss pedals would work best!?
i was wanting to start playing some muse and kings of leon tracks and was wondering which effects pedal(s) would give me their kinda sound!. ( i play alot of arctic monkeys tracks too, i know they're all totally different sounds!lol ) ive got a boss DS1 and Phase shifter already, what other pedals would sound good and work well together!?

thanks!Www@Enter-QA@Com

For most of those types of bands the tone comes from the amp, not necessarily pedals per se!.

Idk!.!.!. I haven't listened to those guys in a long time!. The usual I suppose - Boss CE-1 (CS-1!?) Chorus pedal, a phaser (PH-1!?), and definitely an EQ pedal of some kind to help shape your tone!.

If you put your amp on the dirty channel and turn the gain way down, then use an overdrive/booster pedal to switch between a cleaner (unboosted) and dirtier tone (boosted), I think that might get you closer!.

You can do this with your DS-1 + amp, although you have to be careful with gain levels, and you can even do this to some extent with an EQ pedal or overdrive + DS-1 if you wanted to, although the results will be a bit scratchier due to a distortion pedal's lower headroom!.

I don't know if Kings of Leon are into using delay or not!. Could try that!. I like delay and a bit of reverb!.

Matter of fact, you could try getting a multifx pedal!. I hate the distortion from those things, but the clean sounds can be really good!. If you go guitar -> multifx -> phaser -> ds-1 -> amp you can have a really robust signal path with lots of tonal options without having to have a tone of pedals!.

Keep in mind that if you're gigging that once you hit 4 or more pedals it becomes much more difficult to troubleshoot problems, to power them, or even to just use them properly!.

I just realize you said Muse in there too!. A Big Muff is totally the way to go for those guys!.!.!. not necessarily the Metal Muff, but the original Big Muff!. Compare, of course, but I know the bassist uses the Big Muff as a part of his sound (parallel Big Muff, synth, and clean signals at the same time)!. I believe that the guitarists might as well, or at least that the sound would be amenable to getting that kinda "indie" rock sound!.

Good luck!

Get a boss eq pedal!. There only about £50 and they work wonders for your sound!. A Boss V-wah pedal is a good tool to have as well!. The distortion overdrive is sweetWww@Enter-QA@Com
