Question: R&P: Yngwie Malmsteen or Steve Vai!?
Both have left long lasting contributions to music, and the guitar, and both utilize an entirely different style!. Do you prefer the visionary, spacey feel of Vai or the classically defined Yngwie Malmsteen!? (They are both in my Top 5, Vai being my numero uno)Www@Enter-QA@Com

I really love them both, but I have to go with Steve Vai!. Yngwie is a VERY close second!. I have seen them both in concert and they both put on an absolutely amazing show!. OK my trip down memory lane has now made me feel old - LOL!.!.!.!.

If you're more of a metal fan, you'd probably pick Malmsteen over Vai!.!.!.If you're more interested in creative guitar works, then you'd pick Vai!.!.!.
I personally would pick Malmsteen because I'm more of a metal fan and I usually fall asleep when I listen to Vai (If I were to listen to an instrumental/guitar album, I'd probably pick Cosmosquad:Acidtest, Marty Friedman's Dragon's Kiss, Liquid Tension Experiment 1&2, or Paul Gilbert's "Get Out Of My Yard")!.!.!.I'm not a very Vai or Satriani fan!.!.!.heheheWww@Enter-QA@Com

How can you compare that wanker of Yngwie to the musical genious of Vai!?
Yes, Yngwie has influenced a whole generation (or two) of guitar players into being interested by the likes of Bach, Paganini and Handel, but he has not done anything of much progress in the last 15 years!.
Vai on the other hand, keeps reinventing himself!. he went from being Zappa's apprentice, to DLR's fireworks boy, to an instrumental rock compositional god!. I get more chills listening to "For the love of God" or "Tender Surrender" than to "Black Star" or "Icarus Dream Suite Opus 4"!.Www@Enter-QA@Com
